Let’s be real. 5v5 is a trainwreck. 6v6 had queue time issues and barrier problems. So why not do 7v7 with a 3rd dps?
Queue times should be better and it’d be easier to balance tanks and people would actually want to play tank. Plus with 7v7 being announced, that would bring back a lot of players. Even if temporarily.
I know this isn’t an MMO but they always more dps than tanks or healers.
People say server issues but I’ve never had problems of the like and Blizzard has more than enough money to make the servers work.
I wouldn’t be surprised if 7v7 was way too chaotic, but I mean… make it a QP hacked
I thought they said that they couldn’t do it due to engine limitations. Well, at least the ow1 engine, not sure about now.
So instead of 2 dps lighting up the tank it’s 3, so faster melts and x3 times the tank diff accusations , tf ?? No , bring the game back to 6v6. y’all ain’t got nothing to refute about it, but the same tired and dried out rhetoric of “double shield” as if it couldn’t be reworked. they reworked orisa entirely and yall still act blind to the fact that it’s possible .
5v5 = Overwhelming Negative
6v6 = GoTY
7v7 = Dumb
There would probably be issues with the switch, PS4, and Xbox one. We do know that Jeff Kaplans team tried it internally.
7v7 felt like you didn’t matter enough while team sizes less than 6v6 you mattered too much.
Here’s the link to jeffs interview about it.
You can’t balance asymmetrical formats
2 dps vs 1 tank
3 dps vs 2 tanks
You see how that works, right?
Make it 40v40.
The engine doesn’t support it. The devs already answered this one. Plus it would mean way too much visual clutter. It’s just too many players on the field.
I don’t want to imagine the nerfs that would be required for three dps the exist at once.
7v7 would be really interesting. I like the idea of it being chaotic. 2nd tank and 3rd dps maybe?? I think support at 2 people is totally doable
There would be too many people to handle in a match, and many matches would end up with too much contesting. At that point the meta would be all about “team that survives the longest” regardless of your pick… and never really move the objectives to the final destination.
It should also be noted that a new discomfort would be created: healers would start to be too oppressed in their work in healing EVERYONE, and at that point metas would be created based not on the utility cast at the right time on individual targets… but on healers who influence multiple people on the team at the same time thanks to their abilities.
could be the opposite though… Dying real quick. If this scenario was real would you rather 3 supports 2 tanks and 2 dps??
Mind i remind you, the GOTY OW had McCree rolling around 1 shot combo Tanks. Hanzo 1 shot Zarya by shooting her feet. Widow’s quickscope 1 shot and 150 damage bodyshot, and supports had little to no tools to combat flankers, just to name a fews.
We had seen what balance of OW looked like. And Tanks did not like it one bit. No balance or rework could solve the Tank’s synergies and queue time problem
The more variables you introduce, the more chaotic everything becomes
Imagine 40 tracers zipping around, or you have to keep track of 40 sleepdarts before you can ult
If we ever go back to the 2-tank game design then we will see a resurgence of extremely slow queue times for everyone else. So the only way 7v7 could work is with 3 DPS and 3 supports. Nothing would die.
I think the pattern should be 2 tanks and 3 dps
My guess is the server’s or game engine wasn’t designed with 7v7 in mind so it would be a lot more complicated than it seems to add that many players. You would essentially have to rebuild the game from the ground up from my understanding.
Then you need 4 tanks to start a game, and that alone can easily increase queue times for everyone.
