Pink Mercy is about as close as you get to that genre, but it’s no longer available to those who don’t have it. No one else really has a skin that would fit the same genre as Star Princess Li-Ming in HotS, and I think it’d be delightfully silly to have some Overwatch characters wearing something inspired by the genre.
It’d be really cool/cute/etc. if Blizzard made a skin line in Overwatch based on the Mahou Shoujo genre.
Just food for thought.

I feel like I’m missing critical information to understand this post.

You could have just called it a magical girl skin.

Then people would say “Magician Symmetra”, which is not “Mahou Shoujo”.
People have been requesting a set of magical girl skins for quite some time! Hopefully it comes to fruition at some point. I’d love for the OW team to start making skin sets at some point! Maybe after OW2 launches.
eg. Medieval Set, Magical Girl Set, Academy Set, Sentai Set, Toy Weapon Set, etc

But they couldn’t have demonstrated their weeb knowledge if they did that

Agreed. I need more excuses to nerd out over another continent’s pop culture in this game. Give a magical girl skin to Junkrat.
And put Genji in Uzu Sanageyama’s green ninja dinosaur suit. He’d look badass.

Because Mercy is a 37-year-old woman? If anyone was going to get a magical girl skin, it should be D.Va.

I’m still waiting patiently for Pink Tutu Reaper… or even better Pink Mahoud Shoujo Reaper

It would be cool to get some themed costume sets across characters. LoL seems to have done really well with their Star Guardian skin line which even seemed to get its own spin-off lore. They even made the much memed Star Guardian Urgot.
I love the K/DA line as well.

We don’t want that in the D.Va community <3
Like all good MS anime, it’s doomed to never return or even be acknowledged.
Mahou Shoujo is an anime genre, better known as magical girls. Think Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, Madoka, etc.
Essentially Japanese female superheroes that are usually dressed up in cute and extravagant outfits and have magic weapons, usually staves or wands.

They basically want an Overwatch equivalent of League’s Star Guardians

Magical Girl.
I mean, it kinda makes sense. She is designed to be a bit bubbly and cute.
I wholeheartedly agree! I would love to see magical girl skins for all the girls in OW, and similar to how LOL did their magical girl skin series and gave some boys skins, I would die for one for Reaper.
As with a ton of themes, the main issue is that the primary source of skins is the static seasonal events and how heavily themed they already are. Only Anniversary is really open to anything.
That, and Overwatch’s current monetization method doesn’t exactly encourage much spending and therefore there’s not much motivate to make such sets.
I expect they’ll be looking to change to a more long term profitable system with OW2 (whether Battlepasses or otherwise), so that’s when we’d probably see more moneymaking skin lines like Magic Girl.
because shes a medic that dealt with war and people dying in front of her, her closest friends ‘dying’, and dealing with endless patients in egypt. the only 「魔法少女」part of her is the people that main her.
