What is the purpose of the extra 50 HP? She already has amazing sustain with ice block, ice wall is a top tier defensive and offensive tool, her primary fire is lethal up close, and her alt fire is pretty good at range. Is the 50 HP really needed?
She’s a brawler so she gets most of her value on the front line punishing tanks and overextending enemies. She’s always going to take a lot of damage.
I don’t know if she really needs it but it is what it is.
Zero mobility close range hero. Similar to Sym but with different power budgets
She sacrifices damage for utility and survivability. Mei hits like a wet towel, but in exchange she’s tanky. It’s the tradeoff.
I am very scared of the 55dps primary fire. That as soon as she gets the slow if ever, I can use an ability to negate the dmg.
Also sitting in an ice block not being able to move is not amazing sustain, it’s a decent ability sure, but if you have to sit in it for more than a second or 2, often you will be killed anyways.
Also has a big hitbox, give her a kiriko hitbox and we can talk.
She is a close range hero who need to be in almost melee range to be effective. You could say the same for Reaper… she also lacks mobility.

You are heavily overplaying the strengths of Mei’s abilities and heavily underplaying their glaring weaknesses.
Yes, iceblock heals. But its useless to maintain pressure and in fact its a literal free disengage for the enemy.
Ice wall as a defensive tool is ALSO a free disengage for the enemy.
It deals around half the damage that other close range DPS primary tools.

Ah yes, a ‘‘tank’’ whose defensive cooldown is literally leaving her team to die because its a self stun, and her other cooldown literally blocks her own team’s damage.

Hitscan can do much more damage, instantly and from a much higher effective range.

I compare it to Cass. Sure, he was good at close-range, but he also had a hitscan mid-range weapon that had its range buffed and it warranted him losing the extra 25HP.
Mei does have some mid-range presence with her icicle, but it’s much less reliable than Cass’. And her damage isn’t as instant when she’s close-range as it was with Cass.
She sacrifices burst damage for the extra 50HP, and her hitbox is also slightly larger. She does have sustain in other areas, but she makes up for it by lacking in burst damage, hitscan damage, and utility outside of close-range engagements.

OBVIOUSLY if Mei were moved to tank there should be some changes. But it’s doable.
Defensive, brawler heroes or those with no mobility always have this 250 HP.
Also, bring back Cass with 225 HP. He’s trash now.
Shes a brawler with super low damage now as 55dps on her primary is absolute garbage. They just made her more annoying against tanks and non mobile heroes.
Because support mains don’t heal
To limit her getting one shot getting in the fight and making an impact. Mei has very little impact from range, so it makes sense to me.
Close combat with few mobility powers. Same reason as Reaper.
