Why does hero difficulty matter?

If you’re dying to a “simple” hero then it should be simple enough to predict their simple kit and playstyle.

No one cares if your hero is harder. Stop comparing :eggplant: size with hero difficulty, it’s annoying and toxic.

Depends on context. In the case of old brig, people were going way beyond what their sr should be cuz brig was getting so much value for such little effort

If we’re talking just generally like a genji dying to an Ashe and the genji argues “just point and click zzz”, then it’s just salt.

A lot of times it is simple annoyance and whatever but when it comes to balance, risk vs reward and effort/input vs outcome is a massive issue considering the rank system is based on “skill rating”.

The problem is that my team can’t. I would stop their entire team from teleporting to point if I could, trust me.

Wrong thread?

No? I was responding to OP.

It just doesn’t really makes sense in context with op’s post. But you do you

A character with lower skill should get lower rewards. High skill high reward. Low skill low reward.

It does, it is not my fault you are having difficulty comprehending it. Your b.

Ye that’s the general sense if it was strictly competitive. Problem is that all heroes are meant to be equal in impact since all are being controlled by one person and that’s the point OP is arguing I’m assuming

Yo chill. I was just watching out for you since your post didn’t regard anything OP said.

Okay, but it does. Thanks for looking out for me though, greatly appreciated.

Alrighty then. Still doesn’t make sense but whatever.

Ijdk how this

Relates to this

well then they have to increase the skill level if they want all characters equal

I wish. But blizzard has to watch out from a commercial standpoint. A large part of the player base is casual and a large part of overwatch’s marketing is being diverse and accessible to everyone. That means there needs to be lower effort heroes with diverse mechanics to accommodate. Kinda tied themselves in a knot here.

Basically, I can predict a Symmetra teleport, correct? OP implies that is enough, however, it is not. My team needs to predict the simple kit, not me. Placing a tp requires very little skill, objectively. Yet the value is extremely high. I take issue with that design which is why hero difficulty matters in some capacity, which is the antithesis of their claim. I fundamentally disagree with their assertion and used an example to refute their logic.

The fact that a hero is simple doesn’t not necessarily make addressing them simple, and in a team based game, it often isn’t about just dying to the hero and complaining.

Hopefully that clarifies my stance in relation to what was being said.

True but then why ever go the harder character if you can just go the easier one for same value

Ok that’s a lot better lol. Your original post stated this in the absolute least words possible with the most room for assumption of meaning lol

Fun. Why play a low skill character if it’s not fun. It’s still a video game. If ranking up is more important to you, then you’d go with the low skill character.

Yeah, I know, I was just having fun messing with you a bit. Sorry.

Yea theres the fun part but no hero should get more value for less input
