Why does Hanzo not get the 2.5 headshot multiplier?

Widow, the hit-scan sniper get a 2.5 headshot multiplier. Why not Hanzo?

Seems a little unfair, Hanzo is the projectile sniper, he is designed to get picks like Widow but has a fraction of the crit-rate Widow has.

The devs even gave the 2.5 crit multiplier to Kiriko, for reasons.

I feel like increased crit multipliers should be the sniper passive. Hanzo doesn’t get anything from the current DPS passive, so it would be nice if he could recieve this.

Honor is all Hanzo’s got left.

For context, the 2.5 modifier was a nerf.

They implemented it to keep her headshot multiplier the same, whilst drastically reducing the power of her bodyshot.

Hanzo does not deserve to go down the same route.

You say that but Hanzo and Widow nearly deal identical bodyshot damage.

Widow deals 120
Hanzo deals 125

I would take a 5 damage nerf to his primary if he could receive the 2.5 damage multiplier.

It has to do with trade-off between bodyshot and headshot.

Widow had normal 2.0 modifier back then, but bodyshot was more reliable and strong enough to kill any Squishy over headshot. That’s how it came 2.5x inorder to reduce bodyshot dmg.

Bear in mind, Hanzo has Storm Arrows - while Widow relies only on default weapon.

Alternate Fire (Scoped Shot)

Base damage decreased from 15 to 12
Headshot damage multiplier increased from 2x to 2.5x

previously with 100% charge she had 150 body and 300 crit dmg.
the nerf preserved the crit dmg while the body dmg was reduced to 120.

With a Mercy, Widow was able to deal 195 dmg with just one bodyshot alone!
Back then, Tracer and Zen (which also had 150 hp) were a oneshot for Widow no matter what

Widow also has disadvantages that hanzo doesn’t have, such as a scope (restriction of the view in the immediate surroundings) and enormous movement restrictions (-65%).

Back then, Hanzo was also able to oneshot Tanks thanks to Scatter arrows.

Hanzo shoots once every ~1.2 seconds (~0.7 for fully charged shot + 0.5 seconds recovery) without a reload and with storm arrows for extra damage.

Widow shoots a fully charged shot every - 1.5 seconds (1 seconds to charge to 100% + 0.5 seconds recovery) with a reload of 1.5 seconds. If shooting her 7 shots take 1.5*7 =10.5 seocnds, it means her average damage is 105… (120 * 10.5 / [10.5+1.5]). Even without reload, she still shoots once per 1.5 seconds while Hanzo shoots once per 1.2 seconds.
Hanzo shoots 1.25X faster

Hanzo’s shots are actually easier to hit at medium range as they are bigger than a hitscan and their effect by gravity makes it so you need to be less accurate to still get headshot.

Why don’t the beam characters get head shots. They get shafted from any boosting ability, bar Mercy beam. They balance in weird ways.

Tbh I don’t feel Hanzo needs any buffs at all. going from 6v6 to 5v5 was the biggest buff they could ever gave him since it made his bow one of the most potent ones out of any dps gun especially that he can 1 shot anything that stands in his way considering you got the pure mechanical skill. While it sucks he doesnt benefit from dps passive its only because he never has to reload

Hanzo’s biggest problem right now he is just overshadowed by skilless, brain damaged characters like junkrat who can do what he does but better, faster and with no risk or drawback when abused in high ranks. Tune junkrat mines down, make his ult not a free win button, and Hanzo could be more competitive

Wait, so you want him doing less body shot damage? Because that’s what would happen. Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it (100 bodyshot damage max).

Just wait until they reduce Widow’s HO back to 175 and they give Hanzo fall off so he has to be in close-mid range to get head shot elims…

That actually makes quite a lot of sense… Widow should be at 175hp and Hanzo should have fall-off damage.

I say this as a Hanzo main, while some of the most insane and skill intensive shots are made at long-range, there are so many variables when making the shot, I would say even for the most skilled of players, 90% of it comes down to luck at very long-ranges.

At medium-close-range, Hanzo is a lot more consistent and a players skill becomes a lot more pronounced. The headshots at this range are a lot more intentional and less down to luck.

However, Hanzo is 100% underperforming right now, so I don’t think they will give him a nerf like this and be done with him.
