Why does genji blade not do much dmg?

Why is blade without some form of dmg boost so weak? You do more dps with your shurikens. Is the ult meant to be more of an escape tool or something? I understand you get a dash reset when you ult so are you meant to pull it out to reposition back to your team when you’re low?

Please someone explain why it does so little dmg

Because it’s very consistent damage that’s next to impossible to miss and can bypass barriers?

Today I learned the strongest melee attack in the game, one that can hit a whole team at once and goes through almost all forms of damage mitigation, is too weak.

Well its debatable, all forms of healing in this game completely negates it. Blade needs damage boost or nano to actually be an ultimate. There are plenty of other ultimates in the game which is 20x more reliable with out a pocket or nano and its lame.

I don’t think that is remotely true.

It has a higher DPS than most healing can cover. 122 damage per second, especially while it is bursty is more than pretty much any healer can cover.

Add dash in there…

160 from dash + first swipe, with another 110 at 0.9 seconds later from the second? That isn’t easy.

except it takes the entire ult to confirm one kill if they are being supported.

110 damage per swing, if I dive an Ana and a mercy pockets her it will take 4 swings to kill her. But by that time the enemy team will turn around and kill me. And it’d be the same if I went for the mercy however she also has amazing mobility.

out of all the useless ults you could have chosen to complain about, you picked the most broken one xD

Blade just takes too much effort to pull off nowadays without nano

There’s too many abilities you need to wait out because if you don’t you will have 0 value from the ultimate and might as well swap

if I dive an Ana and a mercy pockets her

Mercy can only heal you 55 a second. Sure if nade is ALSO burnt, but…

If both healers are taking all of their effort, and all of their cooldowns, the ult was still effective.

If you are complaining that the supports are having to burn all their cooldowns, and play perfectly, then… you know? that isn’t bad.

Ana can heal herself too, grenade on the ground, and not only that it will give her a healing buff. Just go to youtube and watch genji blade fails, the large majority of them are because Naked blade can’t kill through the healing. 3-4 swings is far to many to get one kill overwatch has a massive healing problem

Then play support, and find out how much healing actually offsets.

Every single DPS out damages healing.

If your complaint is “if 2 heroes in the enemy team both burn everything they have, and that makes it so they can survive my ult long enough for help to arrive” - you know what? I think that is an actual design choice.

Because support players ALSO need to be able to make plays.

I do play Support, I am diamond and masters on all roles lmao. and you’re kidding right? DPS offset healing? In what level of play? Silver?

All ranks.
The game almost never fights to a stand still.

How long are your fights taking before someone goes down in Diamond / Master? It isn’t long right?

If support could keep DPS entirely at bay, then the fights would be around 1/2 a match. But they are not.

The only time you came even close to something like that was duel shield, which was both tanks, AND support mitigating damage.

Fights aren’t too long, mistakes get made on both sides and it is your teams opportunity to punish said mistakes. Things do die yes, but the ability of healing in the game is really high and team fights can and sometimes do go on for a very long time.

Pressing a button to swing a giant hit box ability around while also dashing across the map and resetting the dash is “too much effort” ???

Do you know all the ults genii can deflect? There’s plenty of abilities that easily shut down ults that you can argue are “easier” to pull off than the ult. An ability of one character countering an ult of another is nothing new. Just because Genji gets blade does not mean he is entitled to get kills with it.

So if both supports use all their abilities then they may survive the ult? Why is that a problem?

You try using dragonblade against competent players that will try to defend themselves and come back to me with results please

You’re pretending like only ultimates counter dragonblade lol
Try deflecting life grip, any boop or any healing in general
And even if you succesfully deflect an ability that would have countered you, a smart team will have plenty more in store for you

The amount of copium here exceeds every EU norm…

You just completely ignore what was said and made some rant about deflecting abilities that counter you… But the question was genj has an ability that counters MANY ults, so why his ult can’t be countered by some abilities also?

It’s definitely a lot easier to counter genji’s ult than for genji to counter other ults.
