hopefully im not the only one seeing this…but why is that after i close the game, the “play” button on the launcher is inaccessible because im “playing now”…ive seen it take like 3 mins before the button becomes clickable again
Because of a leftover sub-process that the launcher monitors? If it still hangs around then it would recognize it as if the game is running. Check the task manager, see if you’re lucky. Although the name could be gibberish and not very helpful for you to find out. The solution would be (one you know the image name) to terminate it manually, but again, that’d require knowledge on what exactly does the launcher monitors.
feel like this is a “new” thing though…only happening within past year
ive also noticed the game takes a good 3-5 minutes before it starts running smoothly for me…i assumed it was a shader thing…not sure if the closing thing is related (is unloading a shaders a thing?)
This has been happening to me since OW2 launched on two different pcs. Not sure why it’s suddenly started happening to you.
Most likely some of the updates - your OS or the game client (or both) caused some stall in the contract of watching sub-processes. I had a few cases on my system after a “simple update” (of the OS) where the parent pid was long gone but the child ones hung around indefinitely - not OW though, some other stuff, but relevant to this subject nonetheless.
this used be a thing that i would notice as well, especially on my old comp, but once i upgraded, i do not notice it.
for my old comp, it was extremely noticeable when closing d4, and it would take a significant time, i honestly think it was just my potato system figuring itself out lol
