He’s making it seem like the reason people leave QP is because of those mean tryhards? Most people play QP casually. They just don’t go with what is meta. Why do people act like someone trying to win makes them a tryhard lol. Casual and trying to win are not mutually exclusive. It really makes my blood boil when he paints these leavers as poor victims of these toxic tryhard players who bully them out the match. No. Most leavers are babies who quit as soon as things get a little tough and then ruin the experience of everyone else.
i play the same any game i would enter. i try to win, nothing wrong with that right?
maybe i should play comp but i like fast queue times and shorter matches. also maybe i have anxiety just a little so i dont play comp much… maybe i should try again sometime
Because it’s his perspective and tbh it is a very reasonable and understandable one considering that he’s a top500 content creator who is as comfortable in competitive as a fish in the sea. From his perspective it is completely asinine to play competitively but not do it in competitive itself, trying to expand it over to other gamemodes. If you were able to ask him whether he thinks that players should still play properly for a win in QP and not do troll stuff like feed and jump off the map he’d probably agree and also give examples that are exclusions to that like practising etc
No the definition of tryhard is to win at the expense of your own fun.
For example if I was on DVA you could go Doom Genji which have a neutrel matchup but are fun but instead you go hard counters because you just want to win not to have fun.
Same with with Pharah mercy barely anyone plays pharah/symm so people who swap to them are doing it purely for tryhard.
Tldr in QP if you’re not a tryhard you will switch to a neutrel matchup not a hard counter the entire game
So for Winston you would switch to Doomfist instead of D.va
The devs have said repeatedly that QP is far and away the most populated game mode. QP is Overwatch, for the majority of Overwatch’s populations.
Trying to win QP games is normal. Treated QP games as disposable and say, leaving the majority of your matches, is abnormal and counter to the spirit of the game. Folks who do it get increasing temporary bans.
Flats doesn’t care about QP and disparages it because QP isn’t Overwatch… to Flats.
You basically just restated what I said. If someone losing in a neutral matchup you expect them to continue losing otherwise they are a tryhard for swapping.
I always read “It’s only QP” , “why would you tryhard in QP” , “Who cares, it’s just QP” - and all these phrases don’t make sense to me.
For me and many other people QP is the “normal” mode, so why would I not try to do my best in those games? This has nothing to do with tryharding. I play to win and if I lose that’s fine, but trolling around and/or ruining the game for others just “because it’s QP” is a huge L take.
I also don’t mind if people try out new things or learn a new hero in QP. If someone is toxic about that, well who cares. Mute, report and move on.
I mean the whole it’s just QP thing isn’t exactly a hot take
Does it really matter if he does/doesn’t say it when people have been doing this for ages already
We don’t need to come on here with the “X person said this” posts when everybody is already having the discussion…just giving them importance they don’t actually have
If you have 0 hours on D.va but you switch to D.va just because I’m playing winston then as soon as I switch to like Rein you go Orisa.
You’re just a sad loser and should play Competitive instead (I only play comp)
But… you’re a happy winner when you switch to Rein? What’s the difference between you switching to make it work and them switching to make it work?
And this is the interesting thing I can never understand. QP shouldn’t be taken seriously like comp…yet it’s serious enough to get upset over counter swapping…yet not so serious to get upset over losing.
