Why does everyone hate paris?

like honestly. Its a good map. Is it cause its a assault

its cuz the first choke is legitimately impossible to get through and its mandatory to walk through it

It lacks a side passage around the first choke point. (Except for Pharah)

I just dont like that the map has almost no good high ground options for the attacking team.

Few other heroes can make use of it. Hammond comes to mind. Not that it’s enough, just saying.

I honestly have the feeling that people are just collectively parroting what a few people started, simply cause they love complaining.

Paris is one of my absolute favorite maps.

I also don’t get what the problem with the first choke is.
I rarely ever had a match on Paris where Point A didn’t get captured.

Defenders have too much high ground utility. Choke point on first is awful, and can only be subverted by flying heroes (most of which are trash right now due to hitscan powercreep). Second point is too far from attacker spawn.

Those are the main issues I can think of. However, 2cp in general is a flawed gamemode.

Honestly, I feel like the worse part is the final point. The first point is pretty good because there are multiple ways to take it, but usually people can’t agree on a single strategy or do it wrong.

The two most common strats that seem to work is ball and pharah. Pharah pressures 1st choke with an off angle other units can’t do well. Ball usually presses past pretty quick and can pressure point or knock people off 2nd into choke. As well as going near full death ball with like rein/sigma, lucio sort of stuff.

Nearly any trades are heavily attack spawn advantage.

Yes, Echo can too. I don’t wanna list everyone.

For me it just feels bad to defend or attack. Even if you win it doesnt feel right and if you loose its 10 times worse than on other maps.

I just hate the giant long walk/areas between points where no fighting ever occurs, it’s not a good design

“Everyone” doesn’t, just a loud bunch that cry on the forums, do. Those of us who don’t mine, or actually like, have never had to be vocal about it.

1.its 2 cp
2.first choke is super bad
3.idk kinda big around point b
4.not much cover for attackers
Even tho map looks amazing and its 10/10 in termes of looks but gameplay is -10000/10
You either capture both points in less then 2 min or stall the crap out of the second.

Either way you’re forced to go through the worst choke in the game, and also the defending team has the most convenient of high ground positions ever which makes it even worse. Another problem is that no matter which route you decide to take, you’re almost always gonna be exposed regardless.

Cuz players are really sh!t at flanking.

How to beat Paris: B1TKBV

Distract the enemy tanks or Spam DPS by drilling into them.
Speed boost the team past the choke and climb the stairs.

A pretty good game for QP randoms with no comms tho.

  1. First choke needs more flank routes,
  2. attacker spawns are too far from Point B or respawns are too slow,
  3. Point B defender spawns give highground advantage.

I’d say worst choke in the game is on King’s Row.

It’s too defender heavy for first point.
By basic map design standards, something like Paris is a sin.
First point has only one small choke that people can push through, if they push through the right, it’s another smaller room where enemies funnel into. If they push through on the left, they, once again, funnel into and out of a small room.
People originally tried to counter this by playing mainly dive heroes on Paris in order to possibly counteract the strong grip that choke has, but all defenders have to do is run a Baptise and the dive is normally shattered.
Furthermore, second point is even more of a sh*tfest.
The main corridor for people to push into when it comes to second point it a wide area where defenders can just spray down, it’s fairly long, so if defending team is running a Bastion, shields won’t be able to withstand it before being broken as they get onto point which is a major disadvantage for attacking side. Pushing through left or right side has just about the same problems.
Overall, Paris is just unfun.

I think Havana is a worst map than Paris. People just don’t enjoy Assault and thus demonize every new Assault map.

I really miss old Horizon. It was a great map that inverted the 2nd point logic by giving the attacking team all the high ground advantage. It’s still good, but no longer my favorite map.

Paris first choke is not worse than Anubis or Dorado. But people got used with them since they’re launch maps.

If you google “Overwatch paris map is bad” there’s an abnormally large amount of results for it compared to any other map.

Heck if you even google “Overwatch volskaya map is bad” you’ll be recommended a few videos saying Paris is the worst map in the google related videos. This works for horizon too.

Plus I doubt Blizzard would choose to remove the map from competitive based on the forums alone.
