Why does Echo need iframes at start and end of ult?

Not only is it the best transformation ult, it gives you two instances of invincibility in addition to the extra lives.

Is this not… broken?

The game can only load so many models of different heroes at a time, when Echo transforms, it has to quickly load the Echo skin model for the targeted hero. As such the frames of invulnerability is a game technical requirement of the ability.

It is also why players who are duplicated are prevented from switching off their hero while the ultimate is in play.

That makes sense. Unfortunate but understandable.

Also because she has to have an open line of sight to her target, we are more than capable of obliterating a 200 health target in under a half second, and she can’t move while she transforms. If she didn’t have iframes she would be useless.

That would be very true. Though assuming no technical limitations, this is not so much of an issue as it has become very standard practice to fly overhead and pick the target (mainly due to shields that block the LOS). If there is one thing that is crazy true about most players is that they don’t look straight up very well.

The problem it creates for me is that you can use it to escape an ult or a killing blow

Says the player with a Doomfist player icon… (sorry I had to tease you on that).

:joy:

You got me there.

Essentially you can survive almost lethal damage, two max damage ultimates and gain 1-3 ultimates yourself in a single play.

It’s a lot.

That being said, I mainly play Echo now as Doomfist has become a lot more situational.

Arkham Asylum taught me that.
