Ashe and McCree share the problem that their hat counts as their head.
the brim and tops of their hat counts as a headshot.
There are other heroes of similar sizes, why should these heroes be easier to headshot? a hitscan weapon might go above or below the brim but projectile hitboxes are definitely not gonna miss. you can still aim slightly to the left and right of their head and have it hit because the brim extends out. it makes A D spam much less effective.
Ashe has a similar body shape to baby dva, widow, and plenty others, why does her hat count as her head?
Same with McCree, who has always been like this. Not only is his hat count as his head but he has a big body compared to other 200 health heroes.
this shouldn’t be an issue.

The hats are part of their identities, shoot the hat, shoot the (wo)man.

Ashe’s head hitbox definitely doesn’t completely cover the hat and I don’t think McCree’s does either.
Already tested it in ptr, it does
On a stationary target?
If so, then there’s a problem.
However, if the target was moving, it is just the server compensating for low tick rate by predicting movement against a shot. Happens all the time.

This sounds a lot like something you made up.

Not really. Have you ever had widow/hanzo duels? Try to move from a corner just a little — enough to show your shoulder. The server will predict your movement and show to the opponent that you moved more than what looked like on your screen. He clicks your head and you’re dead.
I’ve had this happen to me a lot. I move just a little, without peeking through a corner, but then on kill cam it shows me completely move out of the corner.
It is why most people that play widow jump out of the corner to set up shots. Not much of a problem for Hanzo, because he moves fast while shooting/charging shots.
There’s also a “first shot” mechanic that works the similarly. Basically, if two Widows click on each others’ heads at the same time, the first one to reach the server will count.
This is one of the reasons having best possible ping and refresh rate on monitors is more beneficial in this game.
Yep stationary
Me and a friend tested it in a custom game
Nope, that’s just simple geometry. The closer you’re standing to cover, the easier it is for your hitboxes to stick out before you can see your opponent.
No. Overwatch has mutual hitscan kills and they will both kill each other if they fire on the same tick. Almost any time you perform an action on the same tick as your opponent, both of your actions occur, which is why it’s possible to hook Zaryas as they bubble or Reapers as they wraith.
EDIT: Keep in mind that I mean the same tick on the server, because of local prediction your client doesn’t accurately convey the timings of your actions relative to other players’
Doesn’t explain how very little movement on your side appears a lot on the kill cam.
I am a Widow main, and I am not saying this out of thin air. There is a clear difference between standing right at the corner and moving just by pressing and releasing a side movement button, while still having your entire visual cone blocked by a wall and instantly dying vs. being shown on the kill cam that you completely moved out of the cover.
Maybe but both their head hitboxes still seem oddly big. I never understood why it is necessary to give Mccree such a big disadvantage. Shooting his head is so easy, it often feels unfair.

If that were true, it’d produce obvious rubberbanding that isn’t present in Overwatch. What does happen according to Blizzard is that your client will start extrapolating other players if your latency + interp delay exceeds the lag compensation (referring to the server rewinding other players to the timestamp you were looking at when you fired the shot) limit (250ms at the time they made that video), but that shouldn’t happen in normal conditions.
Don’t all projectiles have larger hitboxes compared to hitscan weapons? What did you test with?

I mean, if you try mercy’s pistol you will find out it’s her gun’s broken not the character’s hit box. So I’m wondering which projectile did you choose to test?
Ashe and Zenyatta
you can still shoot off the side a little with zen and still hit, not a whole lot but still easier to hit than hitscan.
Implying any hit box is this game makes sense and isn’t bs.

Its just an animation, it really has nothing to do with how should work.
Like they could just make her head bigger and then make her hat not count.
i told you guys
her head hitbox is waaaaaaaaaaay too big
