Why does a "damage" hero has access to a AOE stun?

Edit: just tell me how to counter mccree

best troll post of the year particularly coming from an entitled Hammond main who thinks it’s fair to boop and piledrive for days without counterplay.

When I see Hammond on the enemy team I’m normally very happy because I farm him ez with Mei/Sombra AND enjoy it.

One of those heroes that if uncountered is cancer af to play against.

The area of effect for flashbang is 3m in radius. That’s a little over half of Reinhardt’s melee range. I think we’re fine.

In low gold, most McCree players would waste flashbang on the first thing they see. It could not be easier to bait out. You could shoot behind them and they would get spooked and throw it to their feet.

If this somehow isn’t trolling. I really suggest learning to bait flashbang. It’s slow and really telegraphed.

he’s not trolling
he’s just solid 2k
he doesn’t understand that mccree is a deterrent to aggressive play in his general area

But what do you do against mccrees in a small room or at on small choke points like the hotel on kings row?

I honestly wonder how many troll posts you got because of these reactions

Im a QP player but only doing placements so dont know my real rank. I once won 8/10 and gained 80 points :stuck_out_tongue:

edit for all those all of you who are looking me up. I play QP I find ranked too stressfull only doing placements some seasons

If your complaining about McCree flashbang then low gold is probably pretty accurate. Why are you engaging McCree in a small room? as Hammond. You could go anywhere, hell even fly over the choke if you wanted. Yet your standing in close range and getting flashbanged?

Hammond is a very very strong hero, but you need to play smart or you will get stunned and focused.

On a separate note, you complain about McCree cc while playing Hammond. With some of the most forgiving CC in the game?

Both heros are fine as is. It’s a healthy interaction. Before you look for changes to the hero’s, you should look to improve yourself.

I’m a moira main. I’ve learnt (and am still learning) to bait out key abilities with fade. Mcree players are often predictable and will flashbang the first thing they see, so if you prepare for that you should be okay. Flashbang is annoying, don’t get me wrong- it sucks to get flashbanged and isn’t fun, and is often an easy kill for mcree players, but it is easily countered.

Dude he’s literally looking for advise. No reason to be insulting.

To OP. For Hammond vs McCree you need to keep your distance a little bit. Or at least make sure you’re in ball form if you’re going to get close that way headshots aren’t a thing to deal with. But really if you have support their isn’t a good reason for Hammond to outright lose to just flash bang. Flash bang has a very limited range, if you can keep it in mind then you should be able to avoid it or bait it.

Not only as hammond * sorry

Just when im at obj before I piledrive I get flashed a lot.
If it matters, I got 1 match away from plat but ranked gives me stress so I will never know my real rank. and I know gold/ plat isnt impressive comming from other games where I actually relax during ranked :stuck_out_tongue:

Edited the main post thank you so far!

This is a very usefull tip thank you!

I changed the text so maybe its a bit off, its okay ! but thank you anyways

But what should you do against a Mccree who really hugs their fellow backliners?

If you can piledrive a McCree without bang, you should pretty much have him.

Always keep track if he’s used it or not and remember it’s small range. Any hero with a good amount of mobility should be able to bait it out. Once it’s gone, enjoy your meal.

Also, a good habit to remember is to always call out for your team when flashbang is used. Much like Ana sleep dart. Knowing the hero doesn’t have access to the ability means anyone in your team who wanted to go for the kill now has the information that it’s safe.

And this counts for most heros. Not just Hammond.

  • has a long cooldown of 10s
  • comes on one of the DPSs with the most awkward and easy to exploit hitbox in the game
  • has only short range
  • can be baited
  • doesn’t always result in a kill with proper support (particularly tanks, it’s impossible to kill them with a flashbang so if you’re dying it’s likely not only McCree is shooting you.

Complaining about flashbang in 2019 LUL.

Flashbang btw is a very healthy ability to keep heroes like Genji, Tracer, Doomfist, Hammond, Lucio, Winston in check. Otherwise there would legit be no counterplay to Genji dashing into your team on cooldown.

Since you said you play rein, shield flicking is a must when fighting McCree. They generally try to flash above your barrier, so if a McCree goes up to you, angle your barrier back when he throws it to stop it. They generally fth immediately after, so don’t drop barrier to fight him right away. You can also bait flashbang by dropping and opening barrier quickly so they think they can flash you as it drops. This is more risky than shield flicking though as you leave yourself more open and with lag the server could think the flash hit you.

Flashbang should be equal with Shield bash, change my mind

  • It should do 5 damage, not 25
  • It should be a cone of effect, not a sphere
  • It should be single target, not multi target
  • It should use up his roll when used, not be separate
  • It should be 0.75 sec stun, not 0.85
  • It should let the enemy keep their momentum, not over-ride the fundamental laws of physics and freeze any movement that was occurring
  • And yes finally it could be 7 sec instead of 10 sec CD

Because every hero in OW is a damage hero. It’s a shooter. Calling heroes “damage” heroes is a community invention that Blizzard adopted under pressure, and it has not aged well.

mccree is extremely weak to more than 1 target focusing him.
and once you bait out stun he is significantly weaker in a 1v1.

you only need to touch 1 pixel of it to get stunned. the way it actually should work is it has reduced effect the further from the point of impact you are. rewards skill hits with the flashbang and punishes the people who simply panic and throw it just anywhere on the screen to still get rewarded.

same problem Sombra has. zero skill involved due to how forgiving the size of EMP is and the fact you only need to be 1 pixel on the outer rim of it to get hit by it for full effect.

a mccree can throw a flashbang an entire player model’s distance away from you and still hit you with it. it should have never been this easy and it’s actually a joke it is still this noob friendly for how strong of an ability it is.
