Why do people report for toxicity when some one disagrees with you or informs you of plays you made that could be better? Chat can be turned off if you don’t like people talking to you. Most of you don’t use chat anyways.
Why is there a “Mature” chat filter that can be turned on and off if no “vulgar” language is allowed?
And why is chat more punishable then straight up throwing?

Probably the same reason we now have suspensions for leaving quickplay. Just ate a 2 hour one again, guess i’m done for tonight lmao! Time to hop back on old school runescape.
I’m asking this as someone who cusses a lot and get banned a lot. Or is willing to ask why a LW pulls me into a group of people when I’m low because they are out of position and getting jumped.

Probably because reading personalized insults thru the text channel is far more upsetting than someone on your team repeatedly saying “Hi!” to the enemy team without attacking them. It all comes down to the Golden Rule and showing Mutual Respect.

So turn off chat if you dont like it? If youre feeling personally attacked without someone attacking you personally then thats a you problem. But if they are calling you out for plays youre making that are ruining that match, thats not a person attack.
Damn you must quit a lot to get multiple 2 hour bans o.O
The problem sometimes theres funny, curious or interesting chat, thus if i mute my chat, im kinda missing out on some of the fun. That old catch-22.

People just report for getting killed.

People are report happy bc Blizz enables such behavior with their vague af holy CoC. Whatever happened, whatever was said, it doesn’t matter, if a person pissed you off, then report them for chat and hopefully they get actioned. Simple.

Until Blizzard
Removes chat with the enemy team.
They get reported simple as that.

I am curious about the way you are “informing” them

Who asked you to give them advices or tell them they play bad?

Basically this but I’m not one of those people who will report someone for chat abuse if they literally never said anything all game. Or if someone from the enemy team told me that player X said the N word in team chat. (oldest trick in the book)
I would at least have to see or hear them say something vulgar or inappropriate that I think they could actually get banned for.
But I get what you are saying. Even if you are not personally offended, it’s an easy way to try and get someone actioned who you simply don’t like for any other reason(s).
Same reason I won’t instantly report a Mei who walls me off in spawn one time. But if it was the same Mei who has been telling me to swap off Ball the whole game then yes.

For every patch that Blizzard puts up that doesn’t include map type selection both teams get reported by me.
STOP FORCING CONTROL MAPS. NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO PLAY THEM. NOBODY CARES TO WIN THEM. IT’S WASTE OF TIME THROWER FEEDER FEST.
LOSE A ROUND? REPORTED
LOSE BOTH ROUNDS? REPORTED AGAIN
THANK BLIZZARD NOT ME FOR FORCING ME TO DO IT BUT ALSO YOU FOR WASTING MY TIME. NOTHING BUT GARBAGE THAT EMBRASSES ME BY LOSING A GAME THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WON. REMOVE ROUNDS FROM CONTROL OR LET ME AVOID PLAYING ON THEM. FIRE WHOEVER THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD TO HAVE THEM IN NON COMP MODES.

Personally, I am okay with criticism.
I do report when people say stuff like
- You are useless
- Bot tank
- Trash
Or similar things, you get the idea.
People reporting for arguing on battle plans or critic for someone doing 2-11 and not fixing their positon isn’t really report worthy, or should not be actionable.
This is something they do need to fix in the game.
Weird to me as well, why not just NOT let them post it.
“Hi, the messsage is offensive, cant send it, rewrite it”
Very good question and also true by the looks of it, i got no answer for this.

Why should people be expected to turn off chat entirely just to avoid the occasional dingbat? It’s the dingbat that deserves to be punished, not the normal person.

Yikes. Hopefully you fix that personality defect soon

I don’t care if I’m offered some constructive criticism about my questionable decisions in-game. I actually like it when someone asks nicely.
The thing is, many players have zero social skills and they just don’t know how to interact with other human beings. Note the difference between:
“Hanzo you suck switch ffs”
and:
“Hey Hanzo, can you help me take that Pharah down? If we both pick a hitscan we’ve got this buddy”
See the difference, you spoiled brats? Probably not. Stay banned friends.

Even this is pretty condescending and would piss me off.
Ask nicely for a hitscan, but not overly so. “Hey, can you swap to Ashe or something? I can’t kill her alone.” Straight to the point and polite, but not condescending
