Why Do We Get So Upset

In Quickplay.

There needs to be a reason people get so angry when they get stomped or even Lose in QP

Its just a game, a game were you can learn heroes or just mess around. Whats with the anger and frustrations?

Because don’tcha know? These few minutes of pixel interaction will impact my life forever!

It’s not like I’ll forget who you are or that you exist in 4 minutes or anything.

“Its just quickplay” is a blanket excuse for any bad behavior.

Stop wasting your teammate’s time how about?

Wrong. “It’s just quickplay” is often used when people are treating quick play as if it is competitive.

Quick play is for practice. Who cares if that person is bad at Sojourn, they’re learning how to use her kit in a real area of play. Don’t forget, AI don’t give you the skillset you need. They don’t move like real people. They move in set patterns and can only help you so much.
The practice range is only really useful for fixing your aim for the day or for learning what a hero’s kit does as a general usage. It’s not playing against real people, it’s not the same.

Quick play is for playing a relaxed game. I’m not saying you shouldn’t play to win, but you also shouldn’t throw a fit like a toddler just because you’re losing.

How about you go play competitive if you want to play with people who (mostly) know what they’re doing?

No its used to deflect any criticism on you under the guise of “well they’re just taking it too seriously I guess”.

Players will say that about literally any little critique to defend their messups.

Are you saying that you’re absolutely perfect in your play, then?
It’s fine to admit you have mistakes. And “it’s just quickplay” is also used against people who are being absolute jerks about mistakes instead of being like “a’ight, well, I’ll help you next time”.

It is fine to admit mistakes.

It is not fine to excuse them in such a way.

“My bad guys im not good at Rein”
vs
“Omg bro relax its just qp”

Which is more toxic and escalating huh?

Even if you aren’t good, are new, or practicing a character you have never played the goal is to win. This is where your “it’s just Quick Play” doesn’t work.

People blanket this for playing intentionally like ___.

If a person says “it’s just Quick Play” go play Elden Ring then.

Funny that you say that, and yet I more often see the first one be mentioned.

I’m not saying it never happens. But, in most cases, “it’s just quickplay” is saying “ease up, I’m learning”. Consider perhaps from their perspective: they’re having fun and being rudely interrupted by people constantly on their A for no reason.

You’d more than likely get agitated quickly, too.

Its a major problem in all video games though.

We have people that take the mode of Quickplay so serious that they demand Competitive Gameplay rules in a mode without Rank.

The thing is, there has to be a light-hearted mode for every video game and a mode for people that people just chill out.

Arcade isn’t any better, there is no chill and people are grinding those modes. So Quickplay really only seams to be that option and when people get to tilted over such a stupid ordeal it comes off as “childish”.

Then say that.

“its just qp” means “your criticism of my bad gameplay is not valid and I dont value anyone else’s time”

My dude, interpretation is why people are so willy-nilly with reporting people for no reason. Unless you ask what they mean, you don’t know if it’s hostile. You just take it that way. You assume.

Assume everything is said in a neutral tone unless there’s a follow up that implies further hostility or neutrality. There’s no tone in text.

Sure theres occasions when people use “its just qp” in response to people beong TOO serious but generally they us it as an exuse when theyre openly trolling a game but its been so normalised now you could go and openly throw games all day and people would still defend it

There is. People don’t like losing.

I can understand getting upset with losing in Comp … But why quick play?

Because it’s not fun if I’m trying to win the game and you aren’t. Believe it or not, some people try to win, even if, “it’s just quickplay.”

I suggest you go play customs or something if you want that. I think there are even lobbies where people just dance around and wave at each other.

It’s literally the same exact reason. If you understand one, you understand the other.

its not a big deal either, people always are passionate in sports about doing well. it used to be a lot more in irl sports, heck even chess, you dont know the amount of times that board has flipped over in tilt by intelligent beings :joy:

“Why do people care about winning in a game?”

Why do people care about anything? Why not? Is not being able to play the game basically fun for you? Not if you’re a sentient human being.

If you want to win there’s a gamemode one tab over that directly rewards you for winning!

You should try that mode.

You can’t learn heroes in customs and some people want to chill and not take it seriously while still playing the main game.
