The amount of times I’ve had flankers harass me directly next to team mates who don’t do a thing about it is insane. We need a “help me” option in the wheel, or team sight or something.
You need a Moira I think -
Good news, they added Moira and Brigitte so you don’t have to worry about that anymore, just pick one of those two and have fun!
Call it out before you die. A lot of support mains complain after they die(including myself sometimes) and it doesn’t help at all. Hopefully, you’ll have a Lucio, Zarya or D.Va on your team who get help get rid of that pesky flanker
Every support in the game has at least 1 ability that was meant for self defense, Zenyatta’s orbs and damage can really help him defense imself on a one V one, Symmetra’s shield can block damage while she escapes,Mercy can fly to a close team member for protection, Ana can put the Enemy to sleep,Lucio can run away and boop the enemy away, Moira can fade away and Brigette has her shield and whip shot. Every support’s ability can help it survive even though for every ability mentioned here there’s a counter (Genji can deflect Ana’s protectile,Winston can kill a runnig lucio and etc…). I know that sometimes it might be hard because the team needs one healer (for example team of Genji,Tracer,Winston & D.va will need a Zenyatta as their healer because of their fast movement) and the enemy has hero against the needed support but thats why its important staying near the tanks… besides, about the “help me” button, can not you just press group up with me or i need healing? both buttons will call team memeber to you quick…
A help me option on the wheel would be nice but I doubt it would really work.
There was one time while playing Ana (this was before Moira was released) and was hanging out in the back sniping my teammates like Ana do when Winston jumped me. I kept saying guys Winston is on me! Winston behind! No one turned around. And the worst part that made me cry a little in the inside was our Soldier coming back from spawn ran right by me and the Winston. Didn’t stop to help or anything. I died and it turned in to “omg where are the heals”
Had a similar thing happen to me just the other day. I usually like to play Moira so I feel a little less defenseless when I get jumped but someone else had only hours on Moira so I offered to swap for them. Switched to Mercy so I could help out our Pharah easier. We didn’t have any barrier tanks (Dva and Roadhog) but the enemy team had a Widow that managed to pick me off. Coming back from spawn I started getting harassed by the enemy Tracer. I was holding my own Ok, getting some headshots and forcing her to recall. I kept calling out to my team say hey! Tracer harassing me at spawn. Can I get someone to pull back that I can fly to. Said this several times in voice chat but no one even acknowledged me. So, I died. And then of course after they started losing the fight it was “OMG Mercy where were your heals???”
In both of these games we had people actively talking in voice chat so it’s not like people weren’t in team chat to hear me.
Can’t wait for Brigitte to be available in comp!
i use voice chat.
its one button to click.
Can we add a "get the damn flanker you sons of …* to the wheel instead of Help Me?
Lol. So your answer is “use your escape ability and hug the tanks”. Well i’m sorry, but no s*** sherlock. Thats healer 101. Doesn’t help when you are dived by the tanks. Or when your tanks go diving leaving you alone. Or when you are being countered and your only switch up option to survive screws the team out of the heals they need. Or when multiple people are on you at once. Its part of the dps’s job to help peel.
Because this community likes to turn a cool fun game into a peeing contest of survival of the skillest. Oh and being Symmetra is extra fun when your team is maliciously abandoning you on purpose because apparently sticking it to a Symmetra is more important than working with a Symmetra as a team.
Tbh team sight would probably be best since it can be applied to so many situations while a help me would frequently fall on deaf ears.
Honestly OP, I apologize for not doing it more.
I’m a tank main that just recently accepted that I need lots of improvement.
I started watching videos and the concept of “peeling” was one of the first things they covered. I was like “whaaaaaaaaaaa…? Helping team mates instead of just standing there shielding?” It was like a light bulb went off.
So I now I just try to be more aware of everything, which has been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m getting there. Healers have my back so I’m going to try and heave theirs.
- Ana: well there is not much you can do. Find 1-2 good tank mains and qeue with them
- Moira: succcc 'em or fade away. With Moira you should not die to flankers, always be weary of your positioning. At youe ELO she is capable to delete flankers pretty good!
Mercy: practice movement until you are really good with it. What I see most Mercys do is just stand still behind their team. And then they wonder why they get oneclipped by Tracer a lot. Always stay on the move, use bunny hopping as efficient as possible, don’t overshoot your GA, use cover and walls to heal behind them, DON’T REZ EVERY DEATH only when you’re sure you have cover and no flanker nearby. - Zen: Practice aim. If you can’t reliably hit flankers, you need to swap off
- Lucio: learn how to wallride and use boop in the right moments. Paired with Moira he has the best survivability of all supports.
People don’t peel because they don’t know what it is and lack gamesense to respond to flankers and divers. Sometimes they even ignore the Reaper wraithforming right past them and butchering their supports. Most people are casuals and not pros. I didn’t experience much peeling for supports until I hit 3700SR…
I love playing Moira (and Brigette) exactly for this. But like, God forbid I ever want to play Ana to mix it up. Even if i hit a sleep dart (which isn’t all the time- I’m not the best Ana in the world) it does nowt as there’s either not enough follow up or our D.va decides it’s time to snipe the sleeping genji for a whole 2 damage
It’s fun playing as a rein being healed by an ana.
She can call the sleep darts… enemy player sleeps through the whole fight, then when they’re about to wake up, you charge at them with rein for the pin elim
Step 1: get a microphone
Step 2: join team voice chat and ask teammates to join
Step 3: scream when getting raped by tracer/genji
It requires people to turn around, which is apparently hard for most people.
Seriously, I keep hearing that flankCree works till mid-diamond.
One of the big reasons I like playing Roadhog is that he decimates diving Winstons and Dvas. With the changes to the backline lately (Moira, Brigitte) I think we’re going to see less dive in the future, but it’s still hard when your team doesn’t coordinate.
When I watch OWL, the whole team moves as a unit. There’s almost never a player by themselves. In our games though, 4 of the 6 are off by themselves doing who-knows-what, so it ends up being a game of best-flanker-wins.
I love being on defense with Roadhog or Mei and just playing “protect the healer, kill the flanker”. Genjis and Winstons hate me.
I do in comp but a) I’m Europe servers: people tend to talk/listen/speak English a lot less on there and b) quick play don’t lend itself to coms in the slightest
I’m strictly a QP player, so this happens to me a lot, unfortunately. But on the rare occasions I play DPS I peel like crazy. I’ve had multiple healers add me as a friend because I devoted so much time to keeping them alive, lol.
So if you want the undying love of a healer, peel. They will keep you alive, rez you when you die, want to keep playing with you, the works.
