Why do people want role queue when they can just lfg for 2-2-2

It is a fair experience. We all get the same SR trash players on both sides of the teams. You climb if you’re better than them.

not wanting to run a group is a need the devs must address.

not my idea: the computer should just create 222 groups in the LFG over and over so it would basically be a role queue.

By fair, its more of just no longer having 4 DPS one-tricks and their egos clashing with each other from the first second…

And what if you play more than just one hero? Like Rein and reaper, or mercy and winston?

Wrong. I use lfg to play where people who are guaranteed to communicate and to get people who actually play the role they are slotting for. That’s it. The game is much more compettive and I enjoy that.

Solo q is a disorganized cluster that is not a true representation of skill when there are too many variables that make the game not played the way its meant to be played. You are better off scrimming or using lfg then you are playing solo q ranked to get actual practice at the game.

because it’s effort to do that, minimal, but more than pressing DPS and then queue

The only time double off tank is fine is if there’s also a main tank (Rein Zarya Dva), but two off tanks as the only tanks is never good and I challenge you to tell me when it would be. Every bit of damage the enemy puts out hurts your team and charges their ults. Not having anything but 2 seconds of defense matrix or Zarya bubbles every 10-12 seconds is a BAD idea. You can GET AWAY WITH IT if the enemy DPS is like Sombra & Tracer and would just move around the barrier anyway, but it’s never a good idea.

agreed… and an extension of lfg is a guild system where your groups are from a pool of peer approved players. with a separate queue for such such who are serious about comp… currently solo queue comp is beyond ridiculous… i get better team composition and teamwork in quick play… and this is even without using mics…

I mean we could argue about the specific example of double off tank, but my broader point is that role queue inherently restricts the meta by forcing everyone to play the same way, I much prefer lfg where it’s optional. I just think lfg needs to be simplified so it’s quick to use.

You have not disproven anything I’ve said. In fact your comments suggest everything I said is entirely accurate.

I play symmetra. Most lfg groups will kick me instantly.

Role queue is better than LFG because even then there is a element of flexibility involved meaning people can still flex and change roles/heroes and the LFG isn’t 100% perfect.

The SR system is contradictory… it should be reflective of your rank as an individual but then it is hindered by the fact that you must win as a Team so at the end of the day… the Team can screw you over and as a result… SR is not accurate.

Also Role Queue may not be the answer… a Hero Ranking would work… like a Sub-SR system on top of what we have so that we get a Ranking as the hero we play.

Your suggestion does not solve the “problem” you cited.

It’s difficult because the issue is that there is no way of fixing the SR system the way it is… without doing a rework… not to mention the SR system doesn’t reset so what you end on is what you start with.

I started in Gold and am in Master now. How did I end where I started?

What i mean is… what you end on at the end of the last season you start with + - 100 SR range

There is no reset, you don’t for example, start off as level 25, get a low gold rank and then in the next season you end up as a GM from doing placement.

You can climb naturally if you win your matches as a team but beyond that, what you end on in the previous season is what you start with.

I’m only 2 SR off my end of season from Season 12 and my matches are 5 wins 5 loss, I’m not the only one who have noticed it and commented about it even streamers and youtubers have made comments and I have been doing a log of my SR since Season 12

Yeah there’s no SR reset. And there shouldn’t be. I don’t know why you think this is a bad thing.

If you consider communication carrying then yeah, I guess so. But to me communication involves the entire team, so it’s not really “carrying”

Because by logic and game design a reset per season would make sense yet there isn’t which brings to question… what is the point of Overwatch Competitive Seasons? It’s not like there are Hero Locks or a new release per season… Seasons is pointless and have very little to no meaning and with the way the that Competitive is designed… it is nothing short of being an ego boost.

I mean, if you are a GM… why would you be worried about a reset? I mean if you have the skills to make it into the top 1% of the overall community and if High SR folks such as yourself who brags about their pedigree as an elite player… there should be no issues are arguments towards a reset.

It doesn’t have to be a hard on, a soft one will do. Like we can retain the MMR value but reset SR and then have people compete to get proper ranking.

The only way to get an accurate ranking these days is to purchase a new account and creates Smurfing so at the end of the day, they have to change something.

If you cannot reclaim your SR Season after season, then likewise you don’t deserve it.

The only reason you stay high is because what you end on was what you started with and since the pool of players is smaller, there is better chance you won’t run into rogue players and if High SR people are right, then you have team mates who knows what they are doing.

I would make it so that there’s 3 “base comps” you can select:

  1. 2/2/2
  2. triple tank
  3. 3 dps/1/2

And a playstyle

  1. Dive
  2. Control
  3. Other

Then select your role

Then you would start out with this comp, and you select your hero, and you can only change comp after the gates open for the 1st round.(or maybe just make it at any time)

You would get it a game with people who have the same settings picked

So a simple game would be

  1. login
  2. select 2/2/2
  3. Select dive
  4. select tank
  5. queue starts
