Why do people still pretend to hate sombra?

Like even before the rework she was mostly fine and after the rework she’s completely fine yet people still act like she’s OW1 completely disable a tank ftom playing press q to instawin teamfight levels of bad. Are they playing on mute and can’t hear her uncloak and hack or something

People are not pretending, they still hate the hero. I will agree that previous iterations were more annoying, but regardless of what they do with her, interrupting abilities and having near infinite stealth will be hated.

The hate is very much genuine.

You talk as if she’s like a throw pick. She still has invis, she still has a high hack uptime, she can see you through walls, she gets a damage boost on hacked targets, and she has a damage over time ability.

If you can’t see how the culmination of all of those things is the very embodiment of piss poor balancing, then I don’t know what to tell you.

This post is almost as out of touch as that one where the guy said zen kick was OP.

Because I play her and I am worse than a swarm mosquito

Sombra is definitely not fine, at least from a Sombra player’s perspective. You are punished for interacting with the enemy, which creates artificial downtime. It’s funny that people didn’t think that was okay before, but now that Sombra has it, it’s fine? Pack up your double standards. Sombra is extremely weak. Since the perks, you can do something with her, but you first have to play for 10 minutes, how fun, right?! Sombra should go back to her OW1 version and start fresh from there, instead of using this awful version that has nothing to do with hacking anymore. She’s a damn assassin now, not a hacker!

noones pretending, she still doesnt have to actually commit to anything she does, she still has the most forgiving cooldowns of any DPS, she still takes less skill to play as then against which is why shes the favorite go to DPS of mercy/ moira mains for how forgiving and easy she is.

Her core design is just bad and they need to decide whether her identity is invisibility, or hacker and lean into one of those because trying to have them both is never going to lead to a well designed character

It’s not a balance issue. I think people just don’t like anything that keeps them from playing low-effort poke war from safety. It’s the reason why 2CP was so unpopular despite it being great. I almost never worry about Sombra, but that’s because I like having to balance my attention between multiple things, and I’m good at it.

That’s nonsense and can only come from someone who doesn’t understand Sombra!

Hack, as it’s currently designed, has a long wind-up time that can easily be interrupted—and on top of that, it only works at a relatively short range. Invisibility was the tool that allowed Sombra to successfully execute hacks despite these limitations. But invisibility also came with its own drawbacks to ensure Sombra could be countered. One of those drawbacks was that her invisibility would be instantly canceled when damaged, and the other was that while invisible, Sombra had absolutely no value. She had to become visible to do anything at all, which caused even more delay when trying to hack.

Simply put: Hack is Sombra’s core ability, but to use it effectively, she needs invisibility.

The problem: OW2 introduced QoL improvements for some heroes, but in Sombra’s case, these very improvements have created issues. After so many reworks, we’ve now reached a point where these QoL changes can’t be easily undone—unless we revert Sombra to how she was at the end of OW1.

Sombra’s original strengths and weaknesses need to stand out again—only then can she properly fulfill her role and be countered more effectively.

Anyone who still thinks hack and invisibility are a problem right now honestly doesn’t understand gaming, because both abilities are in the worst state they’ve ever been in since Overwatch launched!

Lol are these the long paragraphs of an offended sombra main with cognitive dissonance so strong no matter what logic or source I use theyll still defend sombra because its there beloved crutch hero.

I know how this goes and have made my point, Ive had this conversation before and you sombra mains just stick ur fingers in ur ears, exxagerate every one of her weaknesses and completely ignore the far longer list of strengths

You’ve made 8 comments but claim you’ve had this discussion often? I’ll just leave that one as is.

What I won’t leave as is, though, is your claim that you’ve provided sources or included any kind of logic in your post. You haven’t cited anything—just some pseudo-facts like “Sombra is the DPS for Moira and Mercy mains,” something you clearly have no data to back up. All you’re really doing here is voicing your biased opinion about a hero you don’t even play, trying to argue with a day-one Sombra main who’s played every version of her and has 10 years of experience in balancing and game design—someone who explained objectively that hack and invisibility don’t conflict with each other, unlike invisibility and damage, which is a truly bad combo. And someone who also pointed out that part of the problem comes from fundamental QoL improvements made in OW2.

The fact that you’re whining about a one-second silence effect and a five-second invisibility that isn’t even separately activatable just shows how pathetic you really are. You asked for this, and you got it—but like the children you are, it’s still not enough for you. You’ll keep crying until the next rework comes, and we Sombra mains will have to learn her all over again—only for the same cycle to repeat. But there’s one big thing we Sombra mains have over you:

We’ve understood that every nerf to Sombra is always followed by a compensation buff. And now we’ve reached a point where those buffs will always be stronger than the nerfs. That’s exactly why you’ll keep crying again and again—because you don’t want balance. You just want Sombra to be deleted and unplayable. But that’s not going to happen. We’ll always find a way to make her work.

Why do people still pretend to hate sombra?

It’s a lot of mad cus bad.

If they were better they’d kill her as she’s a fairly weak hero. And if they can kill her IDK what they’re complaining about. It’s like not liking the hair colour on someone else.

Im not pretending. The only time I like Sombra is when im playing her.

haha i remember that one

Was in a game of QP and our tank was learning doom. After like one team fight where a dps got killed he switched to Sombra. Our doom became totally useless. He was in all chat begging Sombra to switch off as he was just trying to learn doom. The Sombra player ignored him or just has their chat hidden.

At that point he probably should have switched off and tried learning doom in the next game against more stubborn dps players, nevertheless it was annoying to see how a simple pick was able to able to neutralize him with ease due to Doom’s heavy reliance on abilities to do anything.

People don’t like a character with permanent-invisibility + Get out of jail card ability.

Sombra will always hit you first no matter how much aware you can be since she quickly decloaks and shoots. Unlike TF2 Spy, he can’t instantly decloak and start shooting / stabbing.

Facts.

From what I gather, Sombra is a monster at lower ranks, where it just so happens that players have the awareness of training bots.

The amount of times I’ve cancelled Sombra hacks with Hanzo, who is very likely the weakest of all the DPS heroes, as he takes 3-5 business days to charge an arrow…

OP is just spamming posts regardless of whether or not they make sense.

It’s almost as if they are trying to meet some sort of quota lol.

as long as OTP mercy, rein, zen, ana, widow still continue to complain on social media (reddit and forum), the sombra useless hate still continue to hate

Hacking a target takes more time than the silence lasts. It’s basically a personal discord orb for her now (which is not what the hack is supposed to be)

She’s not supposed to be able to kill anyone under 2 seconds. She’s not supposed to be the assassin that she is right now.
