Have you interacted with people before? Not recommended.
Sorry but what are you talking about? You’re making up statements just to have a reason to reply lol
Good players have bad games. That doesn’t make them bad players.
Probably a lot of reasons:
- most OW players are kids or teens, so they probably still live with their parents and aren’t allowed to make too much noises (unlike Valorant which has older playerbase who most likely lives alone)
- voicechat in most ranks are useless
- OW already has plenty of callouts that you can make using pings, so you can get-by just from using those.
- toxicity
Because had too many games with people flaming, for that.
Why would i risk it, i usually play open mic it waste time to have to press a button. Why would i risk my acct over comms saying something someone doesn’t like, if your not on my friends list or in my grp not talking… Thank blizzard on handing out punishments over adding more social features that encourage communication…
I joined voice chat for years and I have never had anyone give me a rewarding conversation that made me feel good about using voice chat. Usually its ragers and blamers. Why would I want to join that? On the off case that it is not a rager or a blamer, it’s a person that turns rager and blamer if you ask them to switch, heal more, dps a certain target, tank better. People on this game are always actively looking to pick a fight and none of them can take any sort of advice or critique without going full on defensive. It results in the teammates fighting instead of anything constructive, so now my chat is staying disabled for the rest of this game’s life cycle.
I used to but then lots of experience showed me that its usually just a giant distraction and 90% of the time it has a negative effect for your team as there are so many toxic or know-it-all players who want to blame everything but themselves, rage, or just are annoying or making terrible call outs or its completely silent. If you are masters + maybe its more valuable but in medal ranks usually you are better off focusing on your own play and not get distracted, especially with the new ping system.
I don’t join voice chat because when I used to enable voice chat, half of my games would have someone being toxic to me or someone else on the team and that affects how I play.
When I turn off voice chat, I can focus on the game, sound effects and my own gameplay. I do sometimes miss the funny conversations, but those are far outweighed by the negatives.
I am one of those people that can’t focus well even when only one other person is talking so I understand that.
Me too. It normally doesn’t impact me enough to justify leaving anymore, but when I was higher ranked I would regularly leave voice to play better.
I want to clarify that I meant only when people talk trash to you first. I have my reason why talking can be somewhat challenging for me so I understand this.
I don’t join voice chat simply because I’ve had some really bad experiences with it in this game. When people are toxic to me, it sticks with me and reduces my performance sometimes over several matches. So, I just don’t put myself in that situation.
Thank you all for the replies. Helps me understand more
Aint it the truth ain’t it the. Truth
Yeah well I’ll be toxic now to be evol:
Uh, I bet you are the kind of person that drinks water
nailed it
Honestly, for me, it’s just serious ADHD problems. Overwatch is already such an overwhelming game, there are so many things to keep track of, be aware of, “not forget”, that adding an additional layer of stimulus to “pay attention” to is too much for me. I just lose focus way too easily.
Now, I’m not saying that’s good… I wish I could overcome it. I need to if I want to ever be any good a the game… and that’s part of why I stay away from comp entirely… I feel like it’s not fair to let my own lack of ability to focus affect the SR of other players.
I try using comms (even just to listen only) sometimes, but it’s crazy how my gameplay performance just goes to hell every time I do. But it’s much worse when I’m using heroes I play less often… If I’m playing Ashe, I might be able to handle it in bits.
Its funny how this topic is extremely important, but no one takes it as seriously as it should be taken.
The social structure is so damaged at this point, voice communication for public domains in a video game are all but dead and dying out.
I feel you. No hate towards the people that have trouble focusing, past experiences ect. I meant this towards the people that sit in chat and blame the team for lack of coordination or team effort or whatever.
Because most of the time people are toxic at even the smallest setback which just steamrolls into chat fights. I’d rather play the game than listen to people argue. Anything game related can be relayed via voiceline callouts.
