Why do people randomly give shotcaller?

easy to accidentally click on for toons on the right of the screen is about what i figured.
But also could be not random just not obvious.

Like maybe someone called on the radial menu that their uber was ready.
and someone else calls, acknowledged.
Then when the uber goes off the other player was ready to take advantage.

not everyone may have noticed that went on, but the [player that got to take advantage of the uber might consider it a caller move to have called it out for their notice in advance

I get this one sometimes when I have been type chatting about teles i plan to place for the team in advance. So some of it may go on in ways we do not all notice every time.

there are several means of team communicating in the game.

I’ve always wondered this😂

Sometimes I’m not even on mic and I get it👌

I do have to say with enough interaction with the system.
i happen to currently believe the best value we as players can get from it is to just get our 150xp every round for passing out 3 every round no matter what.

36 endorsements could come out every round. And based on how the degrade systems seems to work, little value in working this for a higher than level 3.
Better to treat it as a speed up of loot crate obtaining than any kind of meaningful social interaction yard stick.

And to boot I’d be really sure bliz’s degradation math is based on 36 per round, knowing full well far far less than 36 would come out on average.
Let’s fook wiht em, lets make sure 36 per round come out. ; )

Or let’s just see it as being rational. I get 150 extra xp each round for about 5 seconds of time. Whose not making that reasonable exchange?

Well yah, endorsements are a gimmick. They have no substance of value whatsoever. It is going in the right direction, but it needs a lot more changes to be meaningful.

This is my default order of shotcaller endorsement priority:

  1. “Reaper behind us”, “Zarya has ult”, “Ana no dart” and along those lines.
  2. People who actually lead the team with varying degrees of success.
  3. The above stuff but through text chat.
  4. Using the “default callouts” correctly. (Group up, Ult ready, etc.)
  5. Main Tanks, even if they didn’t say word.

I usually tell my team we need a round of shots for everybody… and then hand out 3 shotcallers while playing LMFAO’s shots.

yeah when i tried to treat it for reals just too hard to. But not in a way that i think can be well managed really.
It is kinda whatever the end users treat it as. when i treated for real it was a lot of work actually.
like if i notice insta bailerrs at round end, then just as i won’t give a card vote for someone that bailed early(and so themselves did not cast a vote), so to do i feel wrong giving endorsements to players i suspect are not themselves giving endorsements.
I will always feel compelled to do what can be done to not support parasitizing.

Ultimately came to feel like too much effort for no meaningful return.
but 3 random clicks in 5 seconds for 150 xp seems a decent deal.

in then end i do wind up saying good team about anyone i did notice being that.
and i try to give out a good sport to the other team each game too.

I give it to people who are aware of their surroundings. Specifically people who deal with the flankers and people who save their ultimates for the right moment.

Note to self: When playing a game with Junkhog on my team, pick roadhog.

I tend to give endorsements to people based on what they did. BUT if you don’t have much shot caller at all but you were a great teammate, I may toss one to you just to give you a pretty equal ring :stuck_out_tongue:

Shot caller is rare. So don’t be surprised people are being nice with it. It’s still so rare that a REAL shot caller will be getting more than the people getting it just because people are nice. It doesn’t break the system.

I’m sure some of my teammates would definitely think that, that they’ve been given shotcaller randomly.

But I see it differently. On one hand, if I always had to give shotcaller only to people who actually shotcall during the game, I’d be giving next to zero. On the other hand, the shotcaller endorsement applies to leadership in a broad sense.

So If I have a teammate who has taken intiative in the game or made some significant play, they get shotcaller. Maybe a Rein charged in at the right time and provided an opening pick. Maybe an Ana checked the tab screen, saw who of the dps had ult and nanoed him, compelling him to go in and kill some reds. Maybe a dps took matters into their own hands, saw an opportunity and used it to give the team the advantage we needed in order to push. It could be many different things that made an impression on me. So I give shotcallers whenever I feel they are deserved (which is honestly not that rare) and after the match treat myself to the thought that perhaps whoever got endorsed was also left a little puzzled… :yum:

Lol I was coming here to post that I give it out very rarely but 9 times out of 10 it’s to a Zen because he discorded the right baddy at the right time. :+1:

Because it amuses me. It always makes me laugh when I get it, and I want to do the same to others

People that are communative will likely get one e.g the person who tells me their ult is ready, that player who asks for group ups and actually waits and gathers a group etc. Past that I might even give it to someone that setup a decent push or play.

Overall its the rare one and I feel like its the one you actually earn haha

I do it as an extra award since they are more uncommon. If I see a player who switched heroes a lot trying to actually make the team work, or is just a really good player I give them shot caller. Usually this is really good reins and zens, or a dps that switched to counter. If however they just did a good job, but never switched and we’re playing an easy mediocre hero, they just get good team player. This is usually the Mercy one tricks or genji players that play well but don’t really seem to be putting their heart into it.

Of course this isn’t how it always goes, if a Mercy or Genji is amazing and carry the team, they will get shot caller.

I give it to teammates who show some kind of leadership or planning. I also give it to those who often communicate useful information. However, the former reason is far more often than the latter reason, and even then I rarely give shot caller. I get shot caller every so often but I guess that’s because I play Reinhardt who essentially is a hero that tries to help lead his team to victory. I don’t use a microphone but I do listen for other communication as well as try to plan a choice of route with my team before going ahead.

I rarely give out shot callers, but now that I think about it, I might start giving out shot callers to good healers and/or teammates that rescue me from a losing battle

I pick endorsements at random. Thinking about this stuff is not worth my time. :alarm_clock:

All of my commendations are solely based on the hands.

Fistbump, point, and handshake.
