Why do people not flex?

In my opinion this is the main reason I think people are choosing not to play competitive. People auto locking DPS, refusing to play anything but DPS, are in my opinion tearing the community apart. The worst part about these people who auto lock DPS is usually they kinda suck at the role. (Not always but most of the time in MY experience.) (Also I don’t know if Its just me but its always a duo que that doesn’t come into team chat and they both auto lock DPS to get 5 picks the whole game.)

I know that some DPS mains are gonna get salty reading this post but I wanna ask you is it really that hard to play tank for 1 game? Is it really that bad to play healer for 1 game when we have lots of other support mains busting their *** because you absolutely have to play DPS. So I want to ask a question to all the people who play nothing but Damage. Why is it the only role you play? are you not willing to flex for a few games even if it means you could potentially win?

Edit: Just a tip for comp you gotta flex like a hypebeast just like me.

Here is my procedure. I lock sombra/tracer first and see if people will swap. If they do, cool i get to play what i want. If I see two more dps picks, I swap to Moira as she is my favorite support to play. If I see we have two support mains I will swap to roadhog/zarya as they are my favorite tanks to play. If everything goes wrong I have to end up playing rein which is by far the worst hero ever made. Like seriously does anyone actually enjoy playing rein? He is so boring. So I guess I do flex but If it were up to me, I’d play sombra and tracer every game.

Some games I do lock dps though. If I have to play rein or mercy too much I start to go insane.

One tricking is the easiest way to climb. I am friends with a mercy player who said she went back to Mercy because she couldn’t climb to diamond with anyone else.

Ok and its good that you’re willing to flex. but when I made this post I was thinking about the people who play NOTHING but DPS

I’d say like 1 percent of the time I do insta-lock dps and will play tracer/sombra even if we already have like 3 or 4 other dps. This usually only occurs after I play like 4 or 5 games in a row where no one will play rein or mercy and I do it to give us the best chance to win. I get burnt out and to keep my sanity I have to play my favorite heroes the next game. It is rare because there are many mercy players but sometimes I will get that streak of everyone picking dps and there is only so much rein/mercy I can play before it is too much. I don’t mind flexing if it is for a support/tank I enjoy, like Moira and zarya/hog.

my tip to avoid 4 dps games are to get a 3-4stack going thats what I always do

I’ve been making my own lfg groups where I specify in the title that I will play sombra. Or If I play tank/support I will specify that I won’t play rein/mercy. It takes longer to find games but eventually I’ll find a chilled group of guys. Just gotta kick squeakers and toxic losers.

I do not like to flex as they say because it is try to win game in it not competition

but why don’t you flex?

I don’t flex because I’ve specialised in hitscan sniper characters (all I played for TF2 and this game). Flexing would just result in me playing mercy or some tank, like how I tried in season 2 and most of season 3 (I was 2400 s2 and 2100 s3 until onetricking). In the end onetricking made me a better player, and flexing made me useless.

Here is my tag: Jayfeather-11310

ok but people like me who do flex don’t get to play who we want because you just auto lock soldier/widow or whoever. It just makes it less fun for others

Throwing my games by flexing would make the game less fun, don’t you think?

Well why cant you learn to play more heroes? You can practice in qp/comp or on a smurf. Knowing more heroes only makes you more valuable for your team

Because everybody has had games where their dps suck balls.

Had a recent game, 4 minute failed attack, where I was Rein and had silver damage at 2.4k. Our Zen had gold damage at 2.5k. Our Tracer couldn’t even break 600 damage per minute. Wow…

As to Rein, being boring. I think that he’s a very hard hero to play, but can be incredibly rewarding. If your game sense is up to par and your team backs you up, he’s top tier. I see lots of POTG where Rein Earth Shatters, Fire Strikes then charges and gets a sweet quad kill. But if the enemy Tracer is eating you apart and your dps are no good, then you’re out of luck…

If you assume that all of your team mates are going to be trash, and in solo queue is quite possible, the temptation is to play a “carry” hero that can get sick POTGs even if their other team mates can’t kill jack.

Jesus Christ that tracer was awful I hope she’s in bronze now

If I start to branch out I’d have to obviously spend less time playing widow. So this would harm my widow gameplay, as playing is basically practice.

Secondly, I don’t care for playing other heros. Widowmaker has extremely high potential, and I’ve known this since starting to play since late 2016. I don’t see a reason as to why I would need to switch to something else when I can just focus on widow.

what happens when there’s another widow player on your team?

I play hanzo if I’m outlocked

Flexing is not fun.

At all.

I know it very well I spend majority of my games flexing because if not we wouldn’t have a tank or healer
