you play any character that actually takes an ounce of thought. people will call the character broken and call for nerfs.
Genji
Sojourn
Ana
Bam (i call cassidy bam because of his belt and cassidy sounds like a terrible name)
Hanzo
pharah
meanwhile characters that don’t have to aim or can just hold left click and forward are deemed perfectly fine.
Orisa
zarya
moira
mercy
mei
sym
torb

The skill for heroes’ is less forgiving compare to others. Let’s not play pretend here.
because, historically, characters who “require a lot of skill” have been allowed to be far more powerful.
Ask yourself, when was the last time Ana was a meta-defining pick… how about Mercy?
Along with that, think about how much it takes to play around a widow compared to a sym? With widow you have to change the way you position entirely, you have to pick heroes who can either block her shots or dive her… etc. With sym? You shoot turrets and that’s basically it.

Idk it’s almost like this game was originally for casuals and all this focus on skill play is very boring and unenjoyable for the average casual player who just wants a fun experience, not a sweaty one.

Skill doesn’t mean balanced. Not a hard concept.

aim is not all skill there is
But about general genji hate those days, it increased because he was always harder to kill in lower ranks (biggest group playing this game) and in casual games, now it got worse, making him harder to kill than play, something what was before seen in fights between counter and countered heroes (zen vs genji for example, you need more aim as zen than on genji there, now more heroes have problems hitting him)
All those characters you listed on the bottom take skill.
Idk why you put Pharah as being skillfull though lol.

the game has had a ranked mode since it came out and they kept it running the entire time. blizzard themselves also sunk money into the comp scene.
bit confused on the characters you choose as not needing skill… if you have a terrible mercy player or sym or mei its very obvious. mercy requires a lot of skill to master and that shows

Your list of characters who “don’t have to aim” includes Zarya and Orisa while omitting Rein and Winston? Huh? Rein is the most W+M1 character in the game.
To be clear, I’m not saying that Rein doesn’t take skill. He absolutely does. It’s just not very aim-focused. You seem to be equating aim with skill and yet have called out heroes who are aim-reliant as “not requiring skill”.
The community has seemingly boundless capacity to deride Mercy as a no-skill hero while simultaneously whining about terrible Mercy players with absolutely no self-awareness about the contradiction.

Because they’re overtuned, it doesn’t matter how mechanically demanding a hero is, balance is made around the high ranks. Besides, the skill requirements of some heroes is far overstated, Genji being one of them.
Honestly, people who can’t counter the likes of Mei or Sym have no business saying anyone has no skill.

I’m sorry, what?

There are some inaccurate statements in OP’s post but…claiming every character needs aim in this game is just being delusional.
Orisa, Zarya, mei definitely need skill.

Pretty sure people still dislike cowboy guy because he had a unskilled grenade for 6 years and then they gave him another one lol

Do Soujourn and Hanzo require thought though?
And double jumping all over an enemy team and holding right click is the farthest from any form of thought process other than “I jump and I right click”.
At least some of the “no aim” Heroes can help deal with Genji in his over tuned state.

The thing is, most of the characters that you listed aren’t hated because they take aim… most people complain when their balancing is off or there is a meta shift so some are stronger e.g right now with demon genji running rapid.
Also wouldn’t really classify zarya has having no skill? Bubble management is important.
characters that require effort should be rewarded otherwise why make them in the first place
