You say they support, not only heal. Okay, so damage guys do not damage only, right? Does that make soldier a support too? Why do supports need to be called with their broad specification, but damage needs to be called with their specific specification?
Or is it principal for you to describe them broadly, but scientifically accurately? In that case, how come a tank is called tank? Isn’t tank a war machine with cannons? Roadhog looks like a fat man, and does not look like a tank at all. You can google “tank” and then “roadhog” and see if they look alike or no.
And you all cry about healers being called healers, but when you have 3 HP you cry to your mic HEAL ME HEAL ME, not SUPPORT ME SUPPORT ME.
P.S I wasn’t expecting people to take this CLEARLY troll post seriously, so I have to add:
Supports - beta losers
Healers - alpha gigachad tate viewers.
It’s a nitpick point. Most people understand that healers/Supports do things other than heal, but healing is a major part of their kit. Nothing wrong with calling them “healers.”
Wrong
Just because lucio can heal, doesnt make him a healer
His speed is his best utility, therefore he is a support not a hEaLeR.
Lucios that sit on heal aura all game are DEAD WEIGHT
I feel its only said by supports who are called out for having low healing. Which I get to a point like alot of Zen’s utility will not be shown on the scoreboard.
At some point thought when you have 1/3 the amount of healing other supports have, your other utility starts to be lack luster.
Because it’s implying a narrow definition for a role that is a lot more than healing. Names matter. The same argument applies to people that talk about banning “assault rifles” which isn’t something that civilians can get. It’s conveying incorrect information.
i can understand where they are coming from.
especially in ow2 compared to ow 1, supports provide much more value than just healing. even moira who mainly heals can provide kill pressure, peel and assistance in duels due to her flexibility, reliable damage and long lasting ult that rewards good positioning and timing from both her and her team.
supports in ow2 need to be proactive, aggressive, well positioned and well versed in reading the game and manipulate the playing field to their advantage.
so why is it that supports are not healers? because the percentage of their total value shifted away from healing into the fields i just mentioned. healing in ow2 very often only postpones the inevible outcome of a teamfight. if the tides are shifting in a fight due to either team gaining an advantage either through cooldowns, kills, damage, positioning, ults etc…, a support healing cant turn that tide. there has to be additional value coming from, damage, kills, cooldowns, positioning, ults themselves
they are a multiplyer for the other 2 roles, they glue the team together. their unique set of skills and movesets provides the 2 other roles with extra oompf or a moment of surprise that can shift the battle much more effectively than just healing ppl up that in the next moment get oneshot anyways.
