I understand trash talking, trolling and trying to trigger people. They all make sense.
But why do I often hear people call their teammates trash? Like they’re absolutely serious about it. What’s the point? Is it a meme? Am I being woooshed?

Small pee pee syndrome. The majority of people in this game have it. Especially low ranked people around plat to diamond are the worst.
Just this week I got thrown into running games where there were a 5x stack of plat/ diamonds and I got trash talked because we lost and I didn’t magically snapped my finger and threw the game around as I’m a gm.
People don’t want to use their brain, think for a second and calm down… they will project their anger on a person just because, that’s seems to be the way a lot of people deal with it.
there was a lad on my team who was insulting our doomfist (calling him trash and all that) on PTR quickplay. it was a bad match.
i asked what our doom was doing wrong, and the cRap talker said something along the lines of “there’s nothing to explain, he’s just trash”

You’ve got the right idea, there. Pump out that 100 to 200 damage per second from halfway across the map. Gotta love it when you send a full clip at head height into a control point and get a bunch of crit sounds followed by a dead enemy dps in the killfeed with Mercy’s picture by it.

Yes that must be it. I can’t see any other benefit from doing so. And since it happens so often, there must be a good reason for it? So many people can’t be wrong. Ergo, you are correct.
