I get that we may not be healing that much since we have a staff that does 55hps and a 30% damage amp but it’s single target so when ur halfway across the map with 3-4 enemies shooting at you I’m damage boosting others to kill them or trying to help and dying and when I don’t help them they get mad. When I do help and die they get mad and say I’m bad. There’s no inbetween to playing mercy.

Enemies hate Mercy because they can’t aim. Teammates hate Mercy because they’ve been taught she’s only to pocket in t500, and because damage boost is hard to pull off when people don’t hit shots.
Oh, also, girly girl character in a “man’s game.”

Actually I hate Mercy because in my elo, she’s for some reason always stuck to a full health tank with her heal beam going when I’m hovering 5 feet over her head going ‘I need healing!’ and sitting at 30 hp for an extended period of time. Even Mercy players don’t look up half the time.
For real though, I don’t hate Mercy, I hate Mercy players who do the above and then think they are playing well because they have 15k heals, meanwhile I have 8 deaths because I haven’t gotten healed once except by healthpacks.
Healers - look up. Look behind you. Look to the sides. Heal. Your. DPS.
And your other healer.
Pharah players must love it when I play Ana because I make sure to always look at them lol.

Apart from what was already said she takes very little mechanical skill to play. And some people, for whatever reason, think that we cannot have that in Overwatch beacause ‘iT iS FpS sO yOu HaVe tO kNoW hOw tO cLiCk oN HeAdS’…
When you play Mercy you do not have to click on heads, hence hate towards people that do play her.

Personally, as a Tank main I always feel inclined to play roadhog with her to make up for the lack of heals.
And I hate playing roadhog.
I can play everyother tank decently, except roadhog.
And If I dont, I have to rely on whoever she is pocketing to actually get picks, Otherwise the sustain difference their Tank is getting will overwhelm me.

There’s a reason why mercy/kiriko is the meta support duo. One can damage boost and pocket DPS, the other has strong enough heals to keep the tank and other support alive
Not to mention the fact that they both have great ults both offensively and defensively.

They hate her because they only understand mechanical aim.
Only one of the many types of skill this game needs if you want to excel.
They don’t understand that because something doesn’t require mechanical aim doesn’t mean it requires no skill at all.
They see Mercy as weak, a life support system, and they hate things they think are weak.
It’s sad but it’s what little boys are like, even when they are in their fifties.

And why does this even matter? People don’t have that issue with Ashe or Sym and those heroes are also respectively enjoyed by “girls and gays”.

I dont think people have issues with Mercy but if you are talking about Mercy OTPs, then yes. Mostly for 2 things:
- OTPs dont have the best behaviour, in fact is one of the worst attitudes you can have in a team game imho.
- Mercy really doesn’t have transferrable skills to other heroes
Thats my 2 cents.

it’s pretty much impossible to hit a mercy with good movement.
to op: mecy is kinda annoying to play against right now because how hard she enables sojourn, but it could also be a misogyny thing because mercy is stereotyped as a “girl’s character” or whatever.

The main reason i don’t like mercy currently is because she further enables busted heroes. Has anyone NOT seen a Sojourn/Mercy pair in a game yet?

This comment was funny to me cuz I just did a VOD review where both of the Supports had their heads so far up their Tanks keister (who didn’t even need healing) that they didn’t realize their Pharah came and landed next to them for 10 seconds to get healing, one of the Supports was a Mercy. The Pharah died of course. And I immediately made sure to not allow them to shirk responsibility with “Go get a health pack”, she shouldn’t have needed to when she has two perfectly capable Supports right there who just aren’t paying attention at all, and one with perfect synergy with her to begin with. Along with both of the health packs she could have gotten being either way too far away, or too risky to go for.
Anyway, to the thread, people suck. You also may be making big mistakes without realizing it, the obnoxious thing is that those you’re playing with probably act infallible while they point out (perceived/uninformed) mistakes that you’re making. And since “Mercy is the easiest character in the game” is the general (incorrect, it’s Moira) opinion, it makes any perceived mistakes you make even more enraging for those who have no emotion control.

People blame mercy because of reverse survivor bias. You tend to linger with bad games or games that they lose. Mercy is the easy target because most people still believe her primary role is to heal regardless of the situation.
Or you are playing with a bad mercy… they do exist lol.

Mostly because there are tons of Mercy players in stacks who pocket their newbie friend while ignoring the rest of the team that is almost twice as horrible as just a single player throwing the match. This is personally why I dodge Mercy players rather ruthlessly when I Q for tank, unless I recognize the Mercy player by their playername in which case I know they aren’t bottom tier cringe like that. It improved my tanking experience drastically
