Support players have to actually play the game now!
I’m confused as to when those things were never the case, and why sweeping generalizations are always being made that support players as a whole are just… bad at the game?
Also, yes, some people don’t like that they have to get 40 elims or they’re actively throwing on support. Maybe because that’s not why people queue support in literally any other game.
Anyway, I just think this whole debacle is weird. Buff Zen and Brig, make Moira less braindead and more team beneficial, and let’s see where we’re at after that.
Its becasue on the forms it seem support mains act like every support need buffed to release brig to have fun even tho they die the least of all role at all ranks yet they say they die to much on top of it they have the most game changing abilities in the game
saying the players of that role are bad so you can dismiss what they are saying.
They don’t want to admit the role has issues, because they don’t want the issues fixed, so they say the players are bad.
Which is a bad argument, since even if they were right, you have to build for the audience you have, so, if the support players are bad, then they have to make the role be able to deal with that anyway.
They are not bad, but I am just pointing out that even if they were, it isn’t the counter argument people think it is.
When the betas were happening I was bored. Everyone said the game is so different now for supports and I said no, it’s the same.
They said supports can’t sit behind a wall and healbot all game. I asked which ‘supports’ were doing that coz not even mercy does that.
They said I was salty and need to adjust. I asked again ‘adjust to what?’ It’s the same.
I have to heal, track Ults, do off angle damage, fight flankers off all while not peaking widow and if we start to lose I have to make a risky play to try and turn the tides.
It’s exactly the same.
But now there’s a scoreboard, one tank and five more mercy bullets.
Supports always have played the game the problem is the game isn’t fun anymore and is a lot more taxing and demanding and ngl all roles are facing this and we shouldn’t be pointing a finger and one role like support.
Yes support is EZ yes it’s braindead but c’mon the pain we feel comes for all of us I was Tank, DPS and Support and I felt all the pain man as a tank I don’t get enough healing and I don’t feel like a tank at all and if I’m not killing for sure my dps aren’t and as a dps some heroes are just too hard to pick off like jesus and support you have all these flankers up your butt.
It’s amusing to me when people try to teach me about using cover and smart peeking as support because I remember my first time soloing into masters on Zen during the dive meta… it’s the same in this game, I’m pretty sure at least Zen players always knew all about using cover and off angles, the issue is when the damage role is made easier as a whole and people act like even high rank supports need to just git gudder. Idc about a discord nerf, I don’t and never needed discord to secure kills, I can hit multiple shots, just help the character out a little. I’m not even upset at the damage players, themselves, Tracer and Widow were my first damage mains after D.va, and I abused the heck out of those two which is why it’s also funny when I advocate for Widow to get changes, people think I hate the character I once loved to play yet I always saw the flaws in her kit.
My biggest issue, however, is what happened to Sombra. I loved playing Sombra more than Zen and they made her kit easier at the cost of power and for what? Anyway, I think it’s a problem of people only playing one or a few characters/classes. It’s easy for someone who has played meta and non-meta characters in every class throughout the game’s lifespan (cooldown DM D.va was my first main) to see both sides of the coin and try to be more unbiased with balance decisions which is harder if you only ever experienced one side of the coin.
We just miss our offtanks that actually peeled dps off of us. Now all we hear is , I need healing , I need healing as you kill 3 of the 5 members on the enemy team and your dps dies and flames you for not healing them while you are fending off half their team. Just the day in the life of a support player in Ow2. UwU
It’s not that support players are worse. The good supports with scaling damage and worthwhile utility are simply harder to play. In 5v5 supports need to do damage and get picks to add value, and supports are all harder to deal damage with than DPS (also a big factor if they have to take duels) but supports also have to heal which requires more situational awareness and complicates positioning, and they have to use utilities which are all about reaction and timing.
in all games with roles it feels like people treat the healer/support role as less than or easy, but no other role needs to keep track of their team (in addition to all the enemies) the way support does. Yeah a lot of supports tend to be mechanically easier but they require a lot more awareness (usually - I guess if you’re hard pocketing on mercy you just need to pay attention to your pocket but whatever)
