Why do i still get penalized if i rejoin after a DC?

why is it that i disconnect through no fault of my own, REJOIN and contribute to the team, giving us one of the points (it was 2cp) before we lose and don’t cap the second, i lose 50 sr still? surely the fact that i rejoined and contributed is enough evidence that i didn’t mean to leave the game. why did i still get suspended and penalized?

If you rejoin within 2 minutes you won’t get penalized.

Do you D/C on the regular? That could be why.

Because the game is poorly designed.

but if I don’t I will?
lovely. I had to restart my game and it took 8 years to load, so I was definitely not back within 2 minutes

Being gone longer than 2 minutes makes the game unwinnable.

Fix your connection, move on.

except that it doesn’t. when I came back, we came very close to winning. I’ve had other situations like this where we DID win when I returned and I still lost 50 sr. at the very least, if we win the game with my help I shouldn’t be penalized.

I feel you, but at the same time, competitive means competitive. A bad connection is not competitive. Imagine a sport player leaving during a match, coming back later and winning, not in one game, but frequently. And the he complains because of the penalties. That feels wrong.

Considering how uncommon that event is, you should indeed be punished.

Its not about whats best for YOU, its about whats best for the community.

Its not changing, fix your internet, move on

The friendlier way to say it is, “How does the system know you’re not purposely DC-ing from the possible millions of other accounts that do so on the regular

After 2 minutes, your teammates can leave without being penalized, but they’ll still lose the normal amount of SR. More often than not, I’m sure most of your teammates would be gone if it takes you longer than 2 minutes to rejoin. The game may automatically shut down if everyone leaves as well.

I also have bad internet, but at the end of the day what they have set in place is the fairest way to deal with this issue. Sure it sucks to be penalized for a DC that’s completely out of your control, but it’s also not fair to the 11 other people that have to play that match without you.

Unless changes are made to your internet situation, I would advise to only play Competitive during hours you notice the most stability in your internet.
