Why do I keep losing in Quickplay?

It feels like that I’m playing in Competitive but I’m really not. I feel like I wanna cry. Why is this happening to me? Do I have bad luck?

Quick play at the moment is a sh*tshow.

The matchmaking is godawful

It happens more often than you think in QP that you do nothing and win 10 games in a row or you did the best among 10 players but still lose 10 games in a row. (unless your a tank)

Just wait till you get a good match.

When people ask this the only way I think i can answer it is to well spectate them.

Give your battle tag and discord
Let’s go figure out why you are losing

I’m in the same situation as you. We really need a bit more balance in matchmaking.

The skill disparity is just too wide, and there’s no middle ground.

Are you a solo queue player, or do you usually stack with others?

It is worse for a tank. If you are good tank. The system is literally dumping whoever it finds on you and expect you to carry them.

FOr quick play ? i dont want to go this hard.

First problem is:

It is “FREE 2 play”.

they are taking newly created accounts that are wanting to play the game and giving them equal match making time.

Even high GM, plat, Diamonds from earlier seasons want “faster Q times” so everyone has a time-tolerance threshold that they are willing to put up with and that means we are getting really HORRIBLE matches.

Coupled along with literal “Squads” of 5 friends all creating a new overwatch account, and they group together it becomes a mess. Because they dont want to wait 20 minutes for a match and the game has ZERO data on them.

So essentially it is the perfect “storm” for a mess of unfairness.

This has always been a problem in Quick Play. Newer players will inevitably get matched up with people who are higher level, play the game more, and have more experience. You have a very minimal grace period where you mainly play against other new accounts and then you’re thrown into the wild so to speak shortly afterward – because the game is working quickly to figure out where you are MMR wise. It doesn’t help new players very much by throwing them straight into the real OW experience but it stands to be known that being challenged is not a bad thing. Losing is not a bad thing. There’s a lesson to be learned in every loss.

It could be they are new, it could be their teamwork is messy - character selection, positioning. Any number of reasons including luck.
I just get curious.

Because all the casual players have left and you’re battling all the trolls.

It’s good to feel something.

(Or so I’m told.)

Happens sometimes

Here have a look it might make you feel better

Someone been busy haha.

Totally agree, I won’t dare to play competitive anymore, it is definitely not a good gaming experience in OW.

I sneak off work at times and get matches done.
But anyway, its no reason to be annoyed about

Play better you win, do silly things you lose.
Keep winning you reach a point where opponents are stronger than your skill = you lose, then matchmaker still gives you a chance to retry same level, if you keep losing you fall down

Which is what people call a win streak or lose streak.

Personally, I’ve tested this - made a stack, played open queue all day, lost few of my 30 ish matches where team didn’t coordinate, won the rest nonstop.

Streaks like this do happen unfortunately, especially when the matchmaker doesn’t really care about making any kind of fair match.

I know me and alot of my friends that usually only play comp have been playing QP lately because comp is really bad rn so maybe more people are doing the same

It could be just bad luck. Ive found that some days, I lose game after game after game, while other days, I win a ton of games and only lose a few.

Its luck I guess :person_shrugging:

You just aren’t trying hard enough.

Remember, this is supposed to be something fun you do in your spare time. If it is causing you distress, then it’s not worth doing.
