Dps moiras, duos you just trolling, silver tank in a diamond/plat game, dps with negative kdr. Try to communicate and help but team just gets triggered and starts to throw. I lost so many games I got the auto derank which never had happened before. As I type this I’m realizing I need a season break. It’s too frustrating and not fun anymore.
Happening to me too. Our genji was 8-15 and was somehow complaining about our Zen that was doing amazing.
It does feel pretty unplayable at times. It’s almost like I prefer honoring the memory of Overwatch now by discussing what a clown circus it has become here on the forum rather then actually playing it. I end up finding myself regretting it most of the time when I start up the actual game.
Play enough games and statistics dictate that the other team will get even more terrible players and you will slowly climb… unless one of the terrible players is you.
It’s clear at this point that the developers are either being held hostage by management that are forcing them to create blatantly awful matchmaking, or they have no idea what they’re doing. The vast majority of players all over the planet believe the matchmaking is awful. Even the developers think it’s bad. I actually have never heard a single person, ever, in my life say the matchmaker is good.
it either you’re the team that gets rolled or the team that rolls the other.it gets boring real fast no matter what side you’re on for the day.
There’s a chance you just have really low ranked teammates, the matchmaker has really gone wonky the last few seasons since it will throw together diamonds and silvers into the same match in the fringes or at weird hours. I had a game at late hours where the matchup between the tanks was a diamond 2 tank vs a bronze 3 tank. Needless to say the team with the bronze tank got rolled instantly.
True, i’ve heard streamers say it’s good for a few games to then retract the statement
everyone likes the matchmaker when it hands them wins
I don’t personally. I like some challenge, so I dislike forced wins just as much as forced losses. There are some games where I could just go afk and my team will still win the game. I don’t like those either, since it feels like my contribution is insignificant.
The matchmaker gives you teammates and opponents designed to push your SR towards your MMR. Loss streak = it thinks your rank is too high. Win streak = it thinks your rank is too low.
Argue and rage all you want about how unfair you think it is but it’s their algorithm so they get to decide what constitutes each rank. Want your rank to be shinier/sparklier/bigger? Get better at the game. Positioning is of the UTMOST importance in OW2 with 1 less tank.
Follow this one tip and I guarantee you rank up: if deadeye/dva bomb goes off right now, will you live? If the answer is no, get closer to natural cover. You’ll survive so many more things, be alive to contribute more often, and you will rank up. There are times where it is unavoidable but avoid wide open spaces as priority #1 for a week and see what happens.
While this might be true, if it’s not fun playing those games in the first place then what’s the point? “Climbing” doesn’t even make sense now anyway, since you’ll end up in the exact same games the only difference being you’re the highest ranked player in the lobby rather than the lowest. You literally have to climb the entire ladder just to not be matched with the same people from where you started.
agree with everything you said here, what started moving me up from gold to plat was focusing on trying to never need heals as dps (as in they’re nice but i’m not feeding without them), hard cover is essential for this.
still die to some weird dva bombs that slide over corners unexpectedly though lol
After 14 hours I can’t believe that no one replied to you defending the mm "B-b-but you’re the only constant.
"
To both of you… you ARE the only constant.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to create a matchmaker that is perfect? There are SO many variables that impact it. Smurfs, leavers, boosters, people trying new heros… not to mention natural mistakes in gameplay that lead to snowballing games that make the matchmaker LOOK worse than it is. Someone who dies first to a positioning mistake they only make once can snowball the first 2 points–the first because it’s 4 vs 5 and the second because the opposing team has ult advantage. Just play the game and stop whining.
You ARE the only constant and if you play better you’ll rank up, simple as that.
Imagine you playing like game 6 Jordan 1 game so they throw you a bunch of potatoes on game 7 to balance it out
Funny enough that the Matchmaker has been constantly complained about for years…
Maybe there’s something wrong if that complaint is the only constant that seems to stick around… is the one the matchmaker is terrible
If “the only constant is you” is your answer to this then maybe the matchmaker is the problem here?
Since release basically or shortly after this has been a reoccurring problem for the last 6 years. Or that logic simply doesn’t apply to the game itself but only its players?
Is your logic is you can’t climb because you’re the only constant
But why is the Matchmaker consistently complained about but that’s not a problem?
Your logic doesn’t seem to cut both ways it only seems to cut in the direction you wanted to in to Steel Man your own argument
I do not ask for perfection…i simply do not want to play with or against silvers/golds while i am diamond. It’s not a hard concept to grasp dude.
And i’m not talking about those people that are diamond/master in MMR but silver in SR, no I am talking about those 8-20 soldiers or 3-17 gold tanks that I keep getting every so often for some reason XD.
I play and I rank up doesn’t make the mm less annoying you know? Simple as that.
You’re bizarre to me Pyah. There is record of you on this forum describing how the matchmaker actually works : I’m paraphrasing what you said, but it’s something to the effect of “if you play well statistically then you are given good teammates and purposely ranked up to the tier the matchmaker believes you should be at, if you play poor statistically you have bad teammates and are ranked down to the tier you should be at.”
That’s not how matchmaking should work, you’ve said that yourself on this forum. Why do you make posts that portray yourself as someone who thinks the matchmaker just works like a normal matchmaker would and there’s nothing wrong with it?
