I always wondered this? So I’ll admit my bias. I mostly play Echo but also dps heroes like Ashe and S76. So I do benefit most from mercy dmg boost. But most dps players play hitscan like Cassidy who benefit from mercy as well. I don’t get why some dps players want mercy to be bad. You’re kind of shooting yourself in the foot.
Now when I’m on support i hate playing vs Mercy because if dps struggle to hit her what hope do I have on support? I’m the main target of her dmg boosted dps. Yet despite this it seems even non mercy support players defend her lol. I just always wondered why the players that benefit most from mercy complain about her and the ones that are hurt the most don’t.

I just despise pocketing and its quite frankly the cheapest easiest way to gain sr for the mercy and the dps

If you find a DPS that hates Mercy, then they’re probably indirectly saying ‘I hate her because I can’t/didn’t kill her and she undid my kill/makes it too hard for me to kill something’.
(And don’t you DPS players lie, I’ve watched my DPS at Gold/Plat struggle to kill anything with a Mercy, not because we didn’t have one, but because she was a heal bot and he was a bad aim.)
That’s usually the go to for why any DPS hates a Mercy and wants her nerfed.
Then there’s the DPS who don’t realize that they are literally shooting themselves in the foot, because they demand nerfs and then wonder why their Supports are struggling when said nerf comes about.

i play a lot of tank and dps and i hate mercy because every single match where the enemy have a mercy, almost all the match is about try to kill the pocket boss hero and if mercy is on my team, i dont like to get free carry by some mercy pocket heros.
and sure i also dont like mercy because many heros cant get buff or nerfs because she exists.
oh yeah and and dont forget the rez on tanks xd.
anyway almost every single support on ow2 is busted. the diference is that you can fix other supports with some small numbers changes. but mercy? she needs a rework.

i cant understand it either but hey i hate certain heroes as well. i hate hammond, lucio and roadhog the most but i am sure people have attatchments to those heroes. thats what this game is about apparently with most people. having a main and hating other heroes lol

I play Sombra so I take that little birdy out of the sky. Kiriko and Ana are way, way, way more annoying for how easy effort to value you get from them. You can auto pilot on Ana and as long as your tank doesn’t try to 1 v 5 you get nonstop value.

It’s funny because whenever I play Mercy the DPS always act like it’s love at first sight. Then you go to forums and online and everyone acts like Mercy kicked their firstborn child. It’s such a stark difference.

It’s actually funny because what made me want to make this post was a game I just had. First round on koth I did pretty good on Echo. The mercy wasn’t really with me all that much. Then after we won first round someone on the other team said Echo is a cancer to the game lol. Next round our Mercy was perma pocketing me and I killed that guy more times than I can count 
. As a dps player Mercy is the funnest support to play with for obvious reasons

I hate Mercy because she is so easy and mindless compared to the rest of the healer line.
All the other healers, Kiriko which is another problem itself, need to manage CDs or have a clear healing downtime on their healing tempo.
Mercy’s Healing is always at a cresendo and barelt recognizable when to strike. The her GA CD is so low its the most spammed ability in the game currently.
Heros like Brig and Lucio need to stay with their patients. Ana/Kiriko/Moira/Baptise need LOS and range with tracking.
Mercy can leash and turn around literally ignoring there her patient is and get off a series of GA jumps where Ana only has one grenade for herself a sleep dart before turning completely vulnerable.
This is the issue here. There is no clear window for a Mercy to be jumped or shot at because she dictates how the fight goes just by her constant neverending sustain and spammable mobility.

I hate playing Mercy because whenever I use my boosts, they’re useless. I like playing Mercy because my boosts get value…sometimes. It really depends on my dps teammates.
I wish there was another way to deal damage that doesn’t involve swapping weapons completely.

From what I’ve noticed, most of it comes from heroes that struggle to hit her and/or don’t get as much out of her rather than the mains that highly synergize with + kill her easily.
Plus, a lot of the Mercy hate has always stemmed from content creators and you’re more likely to see fans of those hanging on the fourms/Reddit/etc.

Of course there are also valid criticisms about certain Mercy mechanics that can be voiced without disrespect for the hero or her players. You don’t see that as often on the forums, I’ll grant, but it happens a lot elsewhere. Hell, Mercy players themselves are probably Mercy’s biggest critic.
And personally most DPS players I’ve met in this game have gotten along with Mercy and me (a Mercy player) just fine. People who come to this forum to complain instead of playing the game are not representative of the average player.

Mercy players are often the most outspoken/rude while contributing the least amount in a team effort. Just in my experience
