Widow without a soft 1 shot, and still an outdated QoL kit, buggy grapple, 1 venom mine
Sombra too annoying
Hanzo’s identity gutted
Genji blade too weak
Immortality abilities having an unequal value trade with ultimates and being online every 15-30 seconds, suzu does too much, immortality should just be damage resist
(remember that dymanic ow2 gameplay we were promised?)
Illari Pylon having too much health and/or not even self destroying after a certain duration
Sojourn completely unreasonable to play now.
Why can’t the devs walk and chew gum at the same time? A community member that got behind the hood could probably spit these out in two weeks time.
I know there are many loops to go through to push something to live, but why can’t they be expedited for player retention and enjoyment?
Why do we need to wait like 4+ seasons for easy changes given any issue?
Because the balance team lacks common sense. They are incompetent.
Mind you this is the same balance team that sat there and gave dva 5 buffs in a month.
This is the same dev team that saw everyone saying doom was the worst hero in the game during season 1, proceeded to giga buff him in the WORST way imaginable, and then nerfed him 10 days later after his buffs into an even worse state he was originally in.
This is the same dev team that in both the hog rework and the sombra rework, they literally changed almost nothing about the characters and either kept the same problems they had before, or in hog’s case made it 50x worse.
This is the same dev team that sat there and created mauga unironically.
This is the same dev team that didn’t even attempt to nerf dive in ow1 and proceeded to say “ah screw it” and threw brig into the game.
This is the same dev team that introduced a solo tank hero into the double tank game, and then left the meta that came from that hero introduction, to rot the game for 3 years.
This is the same dev team that sits here, PRESENT DAY, blaming the OW1 stale and stagnant gameplay on the double tank format, instead of the fact that it was an issue THEY created by introducing broken hero designs like brig, bap, and sigma into the game. And then never properly nerfing those heroes, or even actively buffing them as time went on.
Just because some people say a thing sucks doesn’t mean that your opinion isn’t valid. It’s just saying that your common sense should be my common sense is not right. Everyone has their opinion on the game, that’s why the dev team holds out so long is to be able to see which “sucky” things can be changed and not suck with everything else. This goes for every game.
Because everyone thinks swapping heroes is necessary for the game to be fun, different, playable.
If we had hero lock (like every game ever) then it would be easier to balance and add QoL adjustments because the data would show which heroes and kits struggle and succeed.
But one good piece of kit may struggle when counter swapped, so the data doesn’t show this, so we don’t get these simple changes.
Too many of us take the path of least resistance: swapping, instead of learning how to properly outplay our “counters”
Swapping is not a low skill way to do well. (You still need to know counters and know how to play them). There’s no reason to one-trick and play into your hard counters just to feel cool by pushing past boundaries or whatever.
Swapping is the lowest skill possible way to play the game. You are putting yourself at a default automatic advantage every engagement simply because your hero stops their hero.
OP: Why not adopt a common sense solution to a common sense problem. For example, your shoelace is untied. To fix it, change the shoe entirely to a different shoe without laces. It’s just common sense!
In some cases, sure; however, if I swap to genji to counter bastion, I’d die regardless because I don’t play genji. The player needs to be good at the character they swap to in order to get decent value. It’s worth mentioning that I think counterswapping might be too prevalent currently, but it’s also a core part of OW2 so it’s worth it to understand counters.
As long as there is only 1 Tank there isn’t really much room for error when it comes to buffing Widow and Hanzo.
Don’t expect any major changes until the devs stop coping and bring back 2/2/2
Cause even a chimpanzee can point out a problem with little to no thought. Fixing the issues has a lot more to it than just changing things to be however you deem it to be.
Just because you know a problem exists, doesn’t mean that any old solution will fix the game in a way that wont cause other problems.
Nor is that the type of counter I’m trying to convey.
I’m talking like blatant one sided counters.
Zarya to dva.
Sombra to doom and ball.
Mei to rein (maybe)
etc etc.
And no one says counterswaping existing is the problem. The problem is how easy it is compared to how much value it brings. It’s overly effective in 5v5.
