Why didn't we make widowmaker's hp 150?

If Tracer is suppose to be the close range glass cannon
Then surely Widowmaker is suppose to be the long range glass cannon?

Why did we only settle on 175, why not make it 150 like Tracer?

My question is does she really need it?

I don’t think she’s overperforming right now

Because of hitbox reasons, I guess.

She’s pretty balanced right now. No buffs needed, no nerfs needed.

Well they also gave her a fall off nerf with the health nerf so I guess they’re not going all in on the glass cannon angle. They just made her easier to kill and less of a tank bully

Well, i mean
an instakilling, hitscan, kill from any range, never has to be in a team fight, incredibly small hitbox, get out of jail free card hero was bound to get changed after 5 years

Heroes may be broken but pushed out of the spotlight by the current meta. I don’t think Widow is balanced by her current state, but by the fact that playing Widow into ball/Tracer/Echo isn’t a good idea.

She’ll be back if the meta switches back to slow comps that don’t put any pressure on her.

IMO she’s plenty balanced right now, but I still dislike how her best counter is another widow and how she can be so oppressive if you don’t have one.

I would prefer her to have 150 hp (with compensating buffs) so that a variety of other characters can threaten her with OHKOs from range. Ashe headshots, Mei headshots, Genji headshots (1 volley), pharah/junkrat/soldier/sym explosives with a boost or discord, etc.

More characters would be able to challenge her from range, without needing a sniper of your own.

Because we wanted to nerf her and not to remove her from the game.

She’s fine rn

Because Widow, unlike Tracer, is still easy to shoot, and on top of that she already has a very poor ability to defend herself should anyone get close

Naw… her base damage needs to be lower. Full charge body shots should be like 70 damage. Increase her crit multiplier some to off set the base damage reduction.

Damage nerf option 1:
Full charged dropped from 120 to 70 damage.
Crit multiplier increased from 2.5 to 3.5 which means the max crit she can do is 245.

Damage nerf option 2:
Full charged dropped from 120 to 75 damage.
Crit multiplier increased from 2.5 to 4 which means the max crit she can do is 300.
Armor damage reduction is now calculated BEFORE the crit multiplier. This means a crit on a hero with armor will max out at 280 rather than 295.

I mean I’m not opposed to them, but I don’t have much of a problem against her. But then again I’m a doom main and I haven’t played the game in a bit so idk.

She got the -25 because of damage and range. In order to make her -50 you would have to make her ultra mobile. Besides the grappling she has nothing and in close range she is laughable.

Tracer has a very decent range, very decent damage, probably the BEST mobility in game AND also Recall (which is almost a “cheat death” button).

Yeah if Tracer didnt have recall 175 would be fine but thats not the world we live in.

Because she doesn’t need it.

If so, it must be at least 250.
Otherwise, Widow cannot oneshot all non tankes. (Reaper, Doom, Mei, Torb have 250hp)

This leaves only option 2 and this would require slight counterbuffs. (e.g. reduce the SMG spread slightly (3 to 2.4 degrees (like Sombra) or similar)

I would bring all those heroes down to 225 hp but didn’t bring that up here as it wasn’t part of this topic.

to answer as simple as possible: mobility

In a Widow meta it is widow vs widow, the better widow wins and take the control till she gets killed.
150HP won’t change anything

175 seems to be working fine though.
