Blizzard have expressed they don’t know how to communicate with us but I’m so confused, they already had that solved when OW1 came out.
THE DEVELOPER UPDATE VIDEOS, you know the ones with good 'ol Jeff Kaplan?
I don’t understand what’s so hard here.

they’re too scared for sure especially from their own official blizzard overwatch forum
Having been playing OW since the open beta there’s just so many times in this games life where there’s an issue that seems like an extremely easy fix but they just never see it in front of them.
I cannot ever understand how a company as large as Blizzard or a dev team leading OW2 can’t get player communication right.
But that’s been OW in a nutshell, truly baffling. I was always skeptical about OW2 being a “new beginning” and Blizzard apparently being so confused about something as basic as player communication proves that it’s just the same bs we had to deal with in OW1 as well but somehow worse if that was even possible.
OW was Jeff’s baby … who runs OW now doesn’t care enough to put that amount of effort into it.
Uhh, the last dev updates were at the end of November/December… We haven’t had any major content additions worthy of one since then.
Uhh, did you even read my post or just the title?..
I obviously read both…? My comment addresses it all lmao.
They haven’t stopped doing developer updates as per your title, nor do we have any reason to believe they will. Those are for major content additions etc., not the kind of communication they were talking about.
I remember the Jeff videos mostly being “uh, this is Jeff from the Overwatch team, er, something really cool’s coming out down the line” stretched out over ten minutes or so. If we need to go back to that, I’d much rather have it in text form. That way I can skim it in under thirty seconds to check for the one nugget of actual information instead of sitting through a video for its full length.
You obviously didn’t read both…?
So, I’m not going to even bother with you.
The executive producer mentioned on Twitter that Developer Updates in video format taking a lot of time to produce and that they rather want to release other media versions for developer updates to release them more frequently in the future.
Aaron changed that not only the “Game Director” is speaking in developer updates, instead more people from other departments are now featured in developer updates to talk about their current stuff they work on.
(Edit: Added the link to the Twitter post:) https://twitter.com/OhReallyJared/status/1616597560650764292?s=20&t=YRj03Li6lZSk5TR6peuurQ
Given both of your responses, I can just as easily turn it around and claim you obviously didn’t read either of my posts, so yeah do us both a favour.
As long as they figure something out with player communication (the simplest issue in the world).
But I don’t have many hopes.
Jared tweeted that they working on a new strong communication format they want to release soonTM… Time will tell if this new format works better than the others they have tried.
The dev update videos were great but if they don’t want to do that anymore because it’s too time consuming, that’s understandable.
Then guess what? ALL they have to do, is a dev update in text form and then when you log into OW it pops up right in front of you “new develepor update”.
You click on it and it takes you to thier website where you can read all of it.
THAT’S IT. I don’t understand why it’s so hard, but there you go, hire me Blizzard.
Jared came from Destiny and someone ask why the devs not release a similar blogpost like Bungie is doing with the TWB blogpost each week. Jared liked the idea. Maybe we see something like this in the future.
i think it’s all cash shop updates now bro ![]()
See, this is what I’m talking about.
It’s literally the easiest solution in the world, I already lined it out, everybody can see it, but all we get is “wow neat idea, maybe we’ll come back to it”
OW dev team not being able to apply simple solutions is truly one of the universes most baffling mysteries.
You need to understand that it’s not all the OW team fault. It’s Blizzard “publishing pipeline” of information. Many instances needs to approve what they wanna share with the community. It’s pain for the Devs & Community and they really need to improve their communication pipeline process at all.
That makes sense, I’m not familiar with how Blizzard handles thier publishing pipeline.
I’m not sure why Blizzard would be like that then, just look at any other popular online game and they’re doing what I said they should do, Blizzard should realise that.
Dead by Daylight, League of Legends, Destiny 2, Apex Legends, Fortnite etc. They all don’t have an issue with this because it’s not an issue, but Blizzard found a way to make it one somehow.
Blizzard in general is currently out of touch with the current gaming community at all. They using old marketing techniques, etc.
However the new producers which joined the OW2 team after the launch are looking really competent and I really like how they think what needs to be done to improve the game experience & how they should interact with the Community. Jared as example is a good example, cause he really tries his best to communicate with the community on his privat Twitter account and answers some hot questions.
