Why did they add a scoreboard in OW2 anyway?

I believe the reason they didn’t want it in the original game is because it can cause toxicity. The same reason they added the option to make profiles private.

Personally I’m for having a scoreboard and open profiles, but in my experience so far the in game scoreboard has bred a lot more toxicity than open profiles ever did.

For much needed stats.

They should also add healing received tabs. This way we can tell the healer who is contributing the most to win the objective.

Adding the scoreboard was the best decision and one of the healthiest. We could tell who is directly contributing to the objectives.

A single nano back in ow1 was a decision making factor.

That’s fair, although I’d say 90% of players don’t know how to interpret stats outside of big number good, small number bad.

Small number is bad. Now I was in a game with 2 Lucios today.

The first one could barely do 6k heals but he is always on attack.

The second Lucio did 15k heals and pushing in when there was momentum.

Now Lucio does the lowest heals but the second Lucio knew exactly how his hero performed.

If we did not have the scoreboard, I would know to endorse him.

A lucio can have low healing and still get a ton of value out of utility or even backline pressure instead.

they’re toxic in differentm, i’m afraid
the old medal system couldn’t reflex the percise stats of a match
even you got 1 more dmg than the second high, you can claim “none of any of you is useful” etc.
the scoreboard now is just a raw mirror with true stats but requires advanced analyze but it definetaly shows if someone is trolling or doing unaffectve dmg and whatever

profile is another topic and it was already default private way before OW2
ppl used to be called “trolling” simply bc not chosing their top 3 chose hero and that’s annoying as hell

imo, scoreboard is nice to actaully know what my teamates are doing, sure it could lead to toxicity, but toxic will always be toxic, at least you have the proof to defend yourself
private profile on the other hand just not a big deal to me, just a little bit anoying to click somebody’s profile and know it’s private. don’t make it clickable if it’s not public, plz

Right? But do not tell that to a closed profile defenders. That is irrelevant because the scoreboard does not main Mercy. I love Mercy mains, by the way. But the arguments against open profiles being the default OPTION are nonsensical.

More information is always better. The scoreboard does not needs to be removed, it needs more information. Damage taken, last hits, solo kills, damage blocked for non-tanks.

I also think profiles should be open, again, more information is always better.

while at it, I would love a kill recap, during waiting for respawn, I want to see what hit me for how much over what time span and how much heal I got during that window.

The same thing we know from MOBA and MMO death recaps. (Like WoW, HotS)

But I know thats a lot especially asking for numbers they don’t wanna give anywhere about individual heros (like it never tells you how much dmg any abilities or bullets do)

Just a tiny improvement for too much effort I assume. Also probably to much work for the switch to handle.

To stop moira mains from bragging about gold medal :1st_place_medal:

But now they keep yapping about how they do both dmg and healing more than everyone.

It is not just Moira. Pretty anyone with gold medal get cocky and act very arrogant. They put down their team and trash them around.

Scoreboard has the same issue as before. They should just move to when a match has ended.

It should be like OW1 where they showed Ult and add player stats that only player can see.

What the scoreboard has done is that its gone is prevented uppity player who are doing poorly from trying to put the blame on other people and having other people latch onto that person because no one has any objective data to see what’s going on in the match.

There will be toxicity regardless, but EVERYONE in the lobby can now see your performance overall and the players who are doing the worst stand out. Many times the people who are playing poorly will start making the callouts against other players.

I’ve many times had people come to my own defense on the enemy team against a player on my own team trying to say I was doing poorly.

The scoreboard channels toxicity, it doesn’t create it.

You know what else can cause toxicity?
Constantly getting trashed on Moira or other “non Mercy” support for not getting the healing card.
I DON´T miss being called DPS Moira, when I was not one to begin with at all.

It was the only time they listened to the community when they shouldn’t have.
Or more like they should have realized that the currently available stats are meaningless for the outcome of a match.

They are generally correlated quite well. They managed to capture many of the most core mechanics in eliminations, deaths, healing, and damage. Assists and damage mitigated are not really that important.

There are a few outliers in terms of stats most people are already familiar with after enough games played. Players get calibrated to what are good or bad stats.

The team with more eliminations than the other is generally the team that’s winning. The player with out of place deaths than the others will often lag behind in stats.

I think all profiles should be private, as no player ever needs this info

dawg idc, if my dps is going 12-13, I want to know and I want to be able to call them out.

people deserved to be called out for playing bad. If it’s qp, sure who give af turn it off in qp if need be, but comp? yea buddy get ready to learn chinese.

Blame the people and not the tool. OW1 was trash in terms of transparency.

Are you insecure about your average stats and don’t want people to see? You’re not really explaining your issue with it.
