Why developers hate pharah so much?

So what was pharah backstory? helix agent with problems with her dissapeared mother with ties with soldier and reaper, whats sierra backstory? the same, but this time she got a dedicated cinematic and season to tell her story, pharah lore is nonexistant since the comic where she was declared lesbian, her highlight in 10 years, pharah got 0 interactions with sierra and havent gotten any new voice lines in a lot of seasons or even years, finally got a new skin but no potg intros, last intro was in 2019 or 20, just a lame spray, ana is getting a second mythic with a cool egyptian thematic that 100% was meant to pharah, the skin comes with wings and horus motifs. this have anything to do with the stupid stupid controversy with her voice actress? is revenge from new developers who didnt like pharah getting attention in early ow2? her realtionship with reinhard. she already got her trait of being close to reinhard stolen from brigitte, whats left for pharah? even a possible relationship with mercy dissapeared

And then there is the gameplay, she got nerfed hard, her main gimmick of being a flying character is pretty much useless, cant be on the air, you may think is for balance reasons but the stupid cat have infinite fly with 0 drawbacks, air is a dangerous place for her, healers cant reach her, she have slow movement in the air and ground, is full of counters, every single character can counter her, new and old, specially new, even if you cant reach her in the air her fuel will ran out quickly and will be in the ground with no other tool to scape or even fight back because at close range she can kill herself, junkrat cant kill himself but she can, slow rockets at long range with a game full of characters with movement and suicide at close range, even the buffs and “reworks” do nothing to make her viable, the side dash range is a joke, still very slow, movement while using ult should be a base ability since ow2 launch but still is too slow, cant be canceled, damage got nerfed and the spread of the rockets is insane, have to be at close range to be effective which… can kill her, her new perk was a base ability some time ago that developers removed because it seems was too op, how long before the perk gets removed again?

developers really really shuld learn to give attention to everyone, they are very bad at their job, my complain is about pharah but easily could be about any other character, zarya, batiste, the ball and basically everyone who isnt a young female asian and mercy

They wanted a Quake character and even failed at that. Clearly they simply gave up on her after they could not figure out how to make a Quake character work even though it would be easier than all the nonsense they attempted.

doesnt make much sense because she couldnt rocket jump, well she can but was unecessary, she could fly, actual fly, developers are stupid, they dont know what to do with her or any character

I don’t really know, so this is just all speculation. Yes, I think Pharah is Quake inspired, but also Tribes inspired. Hence the flying. And accelerating when going down a slope. Also Tribes inspired (I think) are Torb’s turrets which are very, very similar to the ones from Tribes.

So why the hate toward Pharah? Because I think many things were inspired from Tribes specifically. The two I mentioned above but also a few other things. First off there was no autoaim and team damage was on. Now, in OW, the reverse is true and auto-aim is integrated into some character’s kits. Also the chaingun in tribes had a very large spread - so much so that firing full auto was a detriment - more spread - so people used to tap-fire. This is common in a lot of shooters now but Tribes was about 2002 or so. How much spread are in autos here? Not much. Sensing a pattern? Tribes was a very beginner unfriendly game - the skill floor was the highest of any FPS I’ve played. Is that true in OW?

I think there is a bit of resentment going on which, from my POV, is a reason why the game is the way it is. And why Pharah is the way she is. Not by all - there’s probably a lot who don’t even know what the game is. But by some.

i used to play a lot of tribes

i could go for more tribes inspiration around here

like adding skiiing or acceleration more commonly - where its fairly movement focused and fast

too sluggish now

No. That’s not what I’m referring to. I think when some devs were younger they tried playing Tribes, got stomped and that’s where the resentment comes from. So here, because they couldn’t chain down that capper (for example) they make decisions which would have fixed that back then and added it here. Just a guess tho.

I dont care about story but if thats the story/bio of her then Iam glad they didnt continue.And gameplay wise, especially with all the new hyper mobiltiy heroes she really needs buffs.

I do find it funny that the bare bones of Sierra’s story is basically Pharah’s. In regards to her in-game nerfs, the devs love to cater to the noob dps crowd—people who can’t aim and need a million crutches to feel like they are amazing at this game.

if that were the case pharah would be top tier with a new perk that give him auto aim rockets like stadium

maybe in california that means something but not everyone lives in california

but blizzard and chinese do and they have to cater to them

She is the most neglected hero from the classic ones. They removed the abilities that makes Pharah who she is barely launch anything and most players are suffering to keep her viable

Pharah’s paying the price for cozying up to Mercy for so long. They both belong in the water.

Rework Pharah into a support. Her primary fire just works to groom Echo’s Real wings. RMB heals enemies while Pharah apologizes. Shift magnetizes Pharah to the nearest piece of map geometry. E is a self destruct that only damages Pharah.

Rework done! I fixed her!
