I don’t pay attention to the pro’s, so I’m genuinely curious.
Objectives win games.
the KITE comp could push up and spawn camp, ya know?
if KITE kills GOATS 99% of the time, it doesn’t matter if they push the payload, cuz GOATS would die then KITE would push ahead and meet them at their own spawn
maybe not enough long range heroes?
KITE???
long range heroes
pharah, widow etc…
I am sure there is a logical explanation to this…
…okay seriously though. Goats works by running a deathball where all members of the team stay tight to each other. Making attacks from long range ineffective. Pharah can’t get one-hits on tanks, and supports are difficult to hit when there is so much damage protection from tanks. Same with Widowmaker.
I’m not sure why you think so, GOATs has enough damage mitigation to break past a choke full of long range spam and head straight to an objective. Once there they can focus on using corners and cycling cooldowns to get progress while waiting for this kite comp to man up and send someone in to contest the point, at which point they get obliterated.
Because Mercy and the snipers were nerfed. Meta would probably still be sniper centric if not.
Are you talking about 4 dps? Because the goats could immediately swap to 2-2-2 and steamroll whatever was left of the point.
I bet if there were one or two more heroes that had the range of Widow or Pharah, GOATS wouldn’t have been so much a problem.
I mean, you could even count Junkrat in too.
I think not anymore you can’t. Not with the 1.35 patch change.
patch 1.35 may help my argument. it’s easier to aim at GOATS from afar with the faster traveling grenades.
if this isn’t true, 1.35 doesn’t change Junk vs GOATS because he’s kiting them
Lots of misinformation here.
The biggest advantage of GOATS is its heavy point presence. It gets this presence by being a close-range composition with massive amounts of shields, healing, and damage mitigation. GOATS’s powerful ultimates, lower chances of being one-shot, and massive amounts of hero synergy also play a part.
Long range heroes cannot contest the point, and the majority of their damage is mitigated. Spammy heroes like Junkrat, Pharah, and Hanzo can often be outhealed by three healers when combined with other damage mitigation. Meanwhile point percentage is accumulating. Sure, these heroes might get a kill eventually, but even then it’s difficult to capitalize on it. The way the objectives work in Overwatch is that you’ve got to get a kill asap, and capitalize on it immediately (especially in, say, 2 cp).
this is why they should’ve never taken away No Limits.
because I bet you 6 Pharah’s could easily handle GOATS
6 Pharahs sound pretty terrible to be honest.
I’d think more like 2 pharahs, 2 mercys, a sombra, and maybe a wrecking ball? 2 mercys would have a lot of rez synergy. Wrecking ball to contest point when necessary, and sombra with a good fight winning EMP now and then.
Regardless, I feel like there’d be a new comp that’s far more oppressive than GOATs that would spring up from no limits. Plus, the game would have even less hero representation.
I disagree.
someone here before said when No Limits was in the Pro scene (way back when) double picks were rare.
erm go read some PRO analysis plz. triple or quad dps comp has no way to contest objective, and goats can delay so much of their time bank when goats is defending. thats y ppl only mirror goats on payload map like kings roll.
link it broheim
3-3 pro teams are now starting to take very long paths to the CP. Wrapping all around the edge of the map to just get to the CP.
The entire idea is just to reach the point, then you set up shop there and the glass cannon sort of DPS comps can’t knock out a 3 support backed team fast enough.
They also can’t get close to stop/slow the cap or the tanks run them over.
Then you have the issue of the attacking team can swap comps at will. So you now see a lot of teams scouting and swapping right away after they see the other team’s comp.
If you run too many DPS range heroes, the comp can’t hold up to a dive or more balanced attack comp. So even if 4-5 DPS was a 100% goat breaker, it would STILL be a weakness as the attacking team could just swap.
Ok then don’t run the goat breaker and… the attack team would just go back to goats.
It’s why balance is so messed up at the pro level outside of goats mirror match, the boring bunker comps we are starting to see and then of course the oh so meh no one gets to play the game sombra comp.
I still like watching the OWL but there are issues. Like the product is ok right now, being it’s early stage two. Yet even now maybe 2/3 of the games are not worth watching outside of just having them on in the background.
do you think reinstating No Limits might help?
