Regardless think we should’ve gotten a ‘Mc’ last name. Did they just want to completely revamp the name in every way possible?

Was it because there was a reference to the name Joel? I assumed it was like an old name or pen name? Maybe they wanted to change it entirely and disconnect him entirely from his past in the same way they wanted to entirely disconnect the name’s origin of the real person. It is also possible that Joel is somehow connected to an individual in the company as well (I’m making an assumption here, who knows).
My personal favorites are Cheese McRightclick and “You-Know-Who” 
Joel or Dave McCloud or something of the likes would have been fine as well though.
I am not sure if Cole Cassidy will ever grow on me.
That honestly sounds like Star Fox’s useless cousin more than a cowboy.
Also if you are going to change it then you go all in. Now picking 2 cowboy names and combining them is a tad on the simple side but it’s at least a clean break.
Because they voted between themselves and they liked Cassidy Cole the most. I also think it sounds better than everything else I’ve read on the forums these past two days. Honestly never been fond of names starting with Mc.
Because he specifically said his name wasn’t Joel, and McCloud was a different hero entirely.
