Why can't we see players who are queued together?

Does anyone know the reason?

Because if we did, there would be massive leavers at setup when they see 5 solo queuers vs 4 stacks.

It was one of their many changes to improve Q times back when games were taking 20+ minutes to get into. Suddenly match making dropped to 5 minutes or less. I highly doubt millions of new players joined up.

Instead they removed the ability to view groups, and then also removed the limitation of not putting 5 stacks up against randoms. Much like any other restrictions have been heavily reduced.

You get faster matches, but they are nearly all crap because there is no real restrictions on who you get a match with.

Same reason everything else that was once visible is now hidden
To hide the terrible matchmaking

Basically this.

Back in the wee old days of early Overwatch we used to have this, they were visually linked together in the old scoreboard.
Then people immediately got fed up because solo queues are getting matched more often than not against 5 or 6 stacks.

As in literally a bunch of randoms VS a premade.
Suffice to say matches are already decided before the timer finishes counting down.

less transparency seems to blizzards plan atm.

Yup exactly. And from your pic, now take away the leftmost 2 players on each side (since just 1 tank now). It becomes a 5 stack against 5 solo queuers which is arguably worse than the pic you shared.

I think this is why we won’t see group markers anymore, even if this wasn’t the intent. It would expose matchmaking and the fury would be even worse.

You can actually, just “invite to a group” when you in a game and if it says “player already in a group” then they are in a group if it says “can’t invite because player is playing comp” then they are playing solo

They do this, because they know Solo Q players do NOT want to play against stackers. and instead of doing the RIGHT thing. They refuse to do so, at Blizzard.

instead of giving us solo queue they try to hide groups
 its just blizzard being blizzard

no valid reason to be honest

I just stated the reason.

Same reason why speech can get you perma banned and you cant swear because liberalism.

okay. i was replying to.

could be their reason but not valid. why? because groups mean nothing. imagine group reveals at end of match. groups lose just as often as non groups usually.

The original reason for role queue was because the players were grouped by role instead of by group, so it was harder from a UI perspective to show both relationships at the same time.

They probably learned from role queue that knowing this wasn’t important, so they likely removed it from OQ as part of their efforts to improve toxicity in the game. I can say with certainty that it has done that job quite well.

People complain because they have to fight against premade 2 from 5
Now you can’t see grp stack, problem resolved by blizzard! no more complain

Not like just a 2 stack like mercy + dps can carry game easy!
Obviously create a grp queue ladder seems to hard

No we have 0 wait times, you’re diamond you get gold in your team! maybe enemy get a premade no one know!

This. QFT. Shame on Blizzard for needing to hide stacks so we don’t rage.

Because Blizzard seems to think ignorance will make a less toxic game.

That way they get to gaslight us about things like matchmaking.

Because you can tell who is grouped up without it

Majority have the same name or number and they always follow each other :stuck_out_tongue:
