Why can’t we change skin in hero selection? I recently noticed that changing skin during hero select screen is no longer there (at least for me), why did they take it out; the feature was a nice touch?

You can change the skin on the initial hero selection screen, after you confirm a hero and load into the map, any future hero switching disables the skin changer.

It’s still there for me. It has to be at the beginning of the match though, so if you go and change your hero you won’t be able to change their skin. I’ve noticed it doesn’t work in 1v1 limits though. What mode were you playing on?
When you first enter the game and when the hero selection screen is present, you’re given the choice to change your skin, anytime after that then you can’t.
I’m guessing this is to keep people from constantly changing their skins during matches or leaving to go change their skin since their mind was changed. I’m not sure.
Is weird that you can’t change them on round 2 of Competitive.
The option is still there but if you switch a skin it will remain the same.
It only works at the very start only, but then why the option appears in Round 2 if it doesn’t works?

It’s kind of dumb, we should at least be able to select skin if we are choosing a new hero, or during setup for round 2.
I often change my skins depending on map (especially for Pharah), so that I blend in with the background or the sky better. For example, taking the Anubis skin on Pharah in King’s Row since it’s night time and I’m harder to see against the dark sky. Or changing my Widowmaker skins to blend in better with the architecture of the map, whether it be to black, blue, or green.

Yeah what’s up with the 2nd round skin-selection bug?
annoying bug is that if you’re playing comp, and you’re playing lets junkrat, with his junkenstein skin first round, second round, even during the part where it says you can change the skin, after it loads your team in, no matter what skin you changed to, it’s still on junkenstein skin.
I guess they don’t want you to trick the enemy into thinking you changed character when you only changed skin, but personally find it a nonsense, since you can actually change character in-game which is even a bigger change.
You necroed a 2 year old thread and meanwhile it is possible to change skins in new rounds of comp.
So your reason is invalid anyway.
I never change my skin anyway unless Halloween is coming up and I put on banshee other than that I put on black watch

I believe it is in possible in all modes but Assault. As normally in the right top corner of the hero selection screen in between the rounds.
I did so last week, so it must be still possible.
I mean in the middle of the match, I can change hero but no skin, don’t know why.
Maybe to prevent someone from screwing around wasting time trying to pick a new skin while the match is active?
I guess your idling time is taken into account.
