Why can't this game have a scoreboard?

What is worse?

Someone doing nothing all game, but lies when they are called out for doing nothing “muh medals”, and then proceeds to keep inting all game.

or

Someone doing nothing all game, has nothing to hide behind when called out and asked to swap, they either swap to help the team start getting back on their feet, or they continue to int and everyone reports them for poor teamwork.

Isn’t the games integrity more important than “muh gold medals” or “muh main”?

Also a scoreboard originally wasn’t made to combat toxicity. I find it funny how Overwatch still manages to be one of the most toxic games anyway despite this.

I still never got how a score board would help

You can see who on your team is underperforming / lacking impact, and request they adjust (change hero / swap).
You can see who on the enemy team is carrying and tell the team to focus that player first.
General helpful information.

Requesting someone to change their hero isn’t flaming or being toxic. It’s called communicating. Communication in a team game is really important.

Honestly seems like this would just add more fuel for toxic people…But I really don’t care if they add it or don’t so yeah…

blizzard is afraid that a score board would have a negative impact in the game, its that simple.

The scoreboard could be used to harass people.

don’t look any further…

It would actually reduce toxicity. Especially on less popular heroes.

If you have a Torb on your team currently, the team will blame or flame him if things go south, despite the Torb doing his job and having top stats.

If we had a scoreboard the team would see Torb is trying his best and performing to good standard, and they would look to the other players with actual bad stats currently.

A scoreboard would also help investigating reports for Blizzard. If Blizzard can review scoreboards of games a player got reported in, they would be able to see if that player was feeding / inting / throwing or was actually trying and the team falsely reported them.

Overwatch is so toxic because it requires an unparalleled amount of teamwork.

So if I play Lucio and pull gold healing, 100 percent you or someone else is doing one of two things.

  1. You start trashing the other healer.
  2. You start trashing me saying I should’ve used speed boost more.
In either scenario, nothing positive comes from it.

Characters like Sombra will always be at the bottom of the boards and if they’re not, anyone below them gets trashed on.

What if I play healer on attack and tank on defense? Overall I’m gonna look terrible on a scoreboard.

And there’s a million other scenarios you can paint and there’s nothing positive a scoreboard creates.

Nothing.

So why add something that doesn’t do anything positive past making you individually feel special (from which you get toxic to others)?

They actually used to have a scoreboard instead of the screen we have now where they have all the medals, I’m sure, but they took it out for a reason I can’t remember.
Or was that some other game? I’m pretty sure it was Overwatch, though.

…So moving the toxicity from Torb to the other dps is somehow “reducing” it. You’ve completely convinced me.

It’s called finding the current problem within the team and fixing it.

Auto flaming Torbjorn doesn’t fix anything when it’s actually the Roadhog with 12 deaths and 1 kill the entire game.

The reason was that they said it couldn’t track fairly the impact of everyone.

It’s a mind-blowing stupid reason considering they have things like Play of the Game, which will never show the actual game-turning play of the match.

I feel the scoreboard would be a good addition as well instead of the normal card screen we have now, where only 4 people are shown and sometimes the stats can be inaccurate or flat-out useless to know if they did something or not. The scoreboard could show the normal stats that everyone sees with the EXP bar, and also an achievement or two that would normally be shown on the card screen.

Too late :stuck_out_tongue:

At least I think it wouldn’t increase it, other games has scoreboards and it doesn’t seem like it increases the toxicity.

How can you tell with those other games if they’ve always had one? I can’t think of any FPS games that didn’t have a scoreboard but added one after the fact.

I know, right? Half the time a Mercy should’ve gotten it because she was the one who revived someone and used her ultimate to keep the whole team alive, but it’s never featured. She never gets POTG along with almost every support in the game.

Overwatch manages to be one of if not the most toxic communities in the market right now, despite trying to do literally everything to put a safety net on everyones feelings.

I don’t think it’s possible to make the community more toxic, other than adding more busted heroes that eliminate fun even more.

There’s no reason not to have a private match history.

I think that the OW community considers itself to be the most toxic, when in reality it’s almost like any other game.

No you do that while playing. If you are just looking at stats you very foolish.
Stats wont tell you that Soldier has been killing that clutch enemy mercy or that a Hog is keeping the enemy Rein in check.

In the end its about stroking e peen. Being able to lash at people for stats. Salty business in general.
