Why can't PC players opt out of crossplay?

Console players can opt not to play with PC players, so why is the opposite not true?

Because blizz knows pc players dont want console players in their games, so tons would opt out. Leading to longer queue times for groups playing with console players.

Why do you even care? You’re playing on a platform that has almost complete control over what input you use. I could plug in my XBone controller into my PC and play OW right now. Ive even done so a few times. If I really wanted to I could even do more wacky stuff like bind the controls to my Guitar Hero guitar.

you do realise console crossplay is crossplay between different consoles like xbox and playstation. they wont ever be put with pc players unless theyre grouped up with a pc player. pc doesnt need this because they arent put into console pools anyways

It’s only in unranked modes so it doesn’t really matter if you are playing with/against console players. If you want tryhard games play competitive

Because we would, and people who want to crossplay would never get a match. I see this is an absolute win, but blizzard disagrees.

3/4 of every Quickplay game I’ve played in OW2 on PC has a PC player grouped with a console player.

Thanks for coming, Wotal. Please stop spreading misinformation.

Speaking for myself, every crossplay game is immediately noticeable because the hit detection is complete garbage. I dont want their wifi 15% packet loss dead weight on my team or against my team.

But Blizzard loves their console whales. Big market.

Depends, if you don’t want console players on your team in casual modes then I’d recommend queuing with other people

They are not put into console only lobbies. On pc it is out of our control if console players are in our games or not. Console players get to choose to play with pc or not.

You cant control the other team, so that doesnt work.

when you queue on console, the top shows console pool when youre solo but will change to pc queue when you group up with a pc player. you most likely wont have a pc player on your team unless youre in the pc pool

But it does control your own so you’re not disadvantaged

If you’re able to take back some control, it’s better than none.

Wotal is clearly ignorant of how it actually works, and yet he knows they have to be grouped with a PC player … but doesn’t realize all PC players can be matched to that group. Unreal.

Anyway, every crossplay game I was held hostage in (thanks, Blizzard) I was told by the oblivious players in that game, “Just opt out LUL.” Thanks, valuable member of the community. Wish I could. Comp is the only place you can get away from the crossplayers.

You can only have pc players in games if it’s the pc pool. But as pc players, we can have console players in our pc pool if they are grouped with a pc player. Something we cannot control. I have no option to not play with and against console players. Outside of ranked of course.

is this just your excuse to hate on console players…

It’s immediately noticeable from the first fight, Wotal. I don’t want to hate on crossplay, at one point I thought it’d be fun. But Blizzard Blizzarded their implementation of crossplay. Maybe there’s no good version of crossplay out there, I really haven’t bothered with it ever, but I know Overwatch’s version ain’t it.

my bad for misunderstanding your concern on the pc part, as for that i rarely get console players in my pc but as someone said before, their queue times would be longer if they werent able to go into pc pools

crossplay is fine though. its players who affect it, not blizzard.

Their queue times certainly would be much longer. As blizz knows pc players in general, would opt out. I certainly would, I don’t have console friends, and the game are usually worse when there is a console player on either team. I don’t want to deal with aim assist at all, and I don’t want to deal with ppl using xim to have aim assist while using a mouse.

So what? Then they’re longer. Why dick over your whole PC player base? Oh yeah, that’s the gaming industy in general these days.

As for “rarely” getting players, I think you rarely notice it. It’s not the same thing.

Brother, stop talking to me. You are in left field, man.
