The issue is voice lines seem a little bugged out, basically what is happening is there will be a team fight and everyone starts using their ultimate’s. You will only hear some of the voice lines for the ultimate’s used. While I understand not wanting to overload the user’s headphones, it is causing supports to mistime their ults, counter ults to be mistimed, and in general just influencing gameplay negatively.
So, a more specific example: I’m playing Lucio on Watchpoint. I can hear the enemy Widow use the wall hack and she is far off in the distance. I can hear the enemy Ana use Nao boost on someone (don’t have a visual) and I hear the enemy Winston use primal rage, which is fine. the issue arises when I don’t hear the D.Va 10 meters away use her ult, but at least I have the “!” visual to tell me she used it. I also don’t hear the enemy soldier use his Tac Visor, and I don’t hear the enemy McCree use his Deadeye. The Deadeye kills me, and all the while I could have used my sound barrier, but I didn’t because at no time did I hear a threat that would have warranted use of it effectively. In this same game my friend who I was playing with also died to the McCree who was behind us. He had no idea deadeye was activated and that perhaps it was time to hide. I have been chatting with a few people on the OWConsole reddit and they have been having similar issues (there are approximately 14 people that all are complaining of the same issue). I don’t think this is an isolated incident to my console.
Other things to note: 1) No this is not isolated to Watchpoint. It has happened similarly on other maps. and no it is not always the same characters. Sometimes I can hear the enemy McCree just fine, and then Phara will be the one I can hear till I am taking a couple rockets to the face.
2) Voice Lines in general seem a bit buggy. When in the spawn (several maps), If I use my voice line, I can hear it but when another character (Teammate) responds to my voice line it won’t be heard but the symbol above the character head will be displayed. Until my voice line is finished no other character’s voice lines will be heard. For the character interactions (ex between Moira and Symmetra/D.Va and Lucio/Widow and Sombra) if those are playing, all sounds seem to be canceled, including “Hello” and “Thanks”. ex: If Widow and Sombra are having their back and forth, if I say “Hello” as Zenyatta it won’t be heard, at all (by me), until all voice lines are silent.
3) this is something I haven’t noticed but the reddit has been bringing to my attention. it appears Reaper is almost silent in the game? his footsteps are only register when they.
I have been back and forth with Tech Support and apparently this is my only option to get someone’s attention?
