Why Can't I Endorse The Enemy?

Just bring it back. You know we want it. It is not a slight on our team, but an acknowledgment of a lot of fun you had with the opposition. I just randomly click now. It’s an afterthought. Would rather not even see it unless I can vote for anyone that was in the match. You might as well take the feature out if you can only endorse your team. /yawn

fr, I don’t get why they removed it, I mean realistically endorsements do next to nothing but idk. Still felt nice in a way. I liked to do it if the enemy was just clearly better (while still endorsing 1-2 of my own team if they deserved it of course) or for whatever reason. Idk, felt nice, sportsmanlike idk. Maybe some people did it negatively but meh, don’t get it

2bh I never enjoyed seeing green endorsements cuz I know 90% of the time opponent is just taunting or pitying after winning a match that our side has no way of winning (because after those matches I often get 3-4 green ones, which I’d rather not have).

You can say they are acknowledging someone who’s trying in a failing team, I say I would rather not be on that team in the first place. If I needed to be endorsed I would actually pretend to talk nice all the time to farm them, but I do not, so these endorsements are nothing more than pity at that point.

I don’t like it being removed because there’s times, like you said, that I would want to endorse enemies myself, and I don’t mind the taunting and pitying that much. But for the people who can’t handle it, it does need to go, even tho I agree with most of your points.

This.

First, we can’t endorse anyone on our friends list. Now we can’t endorse anyone on the opposing team.

Makes the whole endorsement system completely pointless, in my opinion.

Never once have I dropped one for an enemy if I did not think they deserved The mirror matches I had in OW1… hilarious. We would talk in all chat and be like, “you, gg bro/sis”. WTF is wrong with that?

I think that’s just a stack saying you did well, I don’t really get how congratulating someone is a taunt. It’s still someone saying you did good win or lose.
I reckon I used to endorse enemies more than teammates and never meant it as a taunt nor because they were fake polite.

Also it seems kinda stupid to endorse someone by paying them a compliment.

Never felt like a taunt one time. I get POTG or get some work in, and they hit me with one. Agreed!

Do people really endorse enemies? Like I don’t get any endorsements as a healer or a tank from my teammates at all, can’t imagine enemies endorse me.

If I had a REALLY good match with a rival tank, I would all the time. Why not?

Yeah honestly, it’s stupid to remove it. It doesn’t happen very often but to take an example: I played against a team and the enemy Reinhardt got some early sneak attack in on me and that started a mini rivalry between us where we commented on each other, I tried a little bit harder when I saw them and it was fun. Such a game leads me to want to endorse that Reinhardt because they edged me out and it was a fun rivalry but I couldn’t so I had to settle for saying “I would endorse you if I could”.

It’s also the case for when an opponent gets a masterful play and you want to just say “bravo”. It makes no sense to remove it honestly.

Overwatch 1 had a subpar opponent endorsement system because you could only endorse for sportsmanship so I just endorsed those who said “gg” after the game if my teammates didn’t do enough to warrant an endorsement so I prefer this new system of general endorsement but let us do it to the opponent gods damnit.

They only have one type of endorsement now when the original game had three.

Plus the reward is kind of pointless now, especially when most players have finished the battle pass by this point.

I did, not as frequently as teammates, but I miss it.

It’s strange because you can still endorse enemies in deathmatch

I liked endorsing enemies that either did a good job against me, or that I felt bad because I harassed them all match (like when I would play Hammond against snipers).

It’s also a great spite tool when you hate your teammates.

Bring back enemy endorsements. Let me congratulate the enemies for being better than my dead weight pile of albatrosses.

I liked that it gave the game some semblance of sportsmanship. Like highfiving the opponents after a game.

They’ve completely forgotten how to foster a community. We’re not even asking for outrageous things; we’re literally asking for things that already existed and were taken away for absolutely no reason.

That’s the reason why they removed the ability to endorse the enemy team.

People are purposely avoiding to be positive towards their own teammates, so limiting the choices to teammates actually helped the purpose of the system a lot.

Plus, you don’t get EXP for endorsing like we used to in OW1, but only when you get endorsed, I think.

they removed it after they went 5v5 and they even reduced to how many people u can reduce down to 2…i feel like ow2 is meant to become a huge failure

Not when there wasn’t anyone on your team who was worth endorsing and you’d much rather endorse the enemy players who played much, much better.

At that point, you’re not endorsing for the sake of being positive, but just for spite & self-reassurance to tell yourself that your teammates were bad, without saying it publicly.

That’s how many people used the system in OW1, when voting enemies.

The endorsing of enemies just weren’t being used as intended, similar to the General Chat in the main menu of OW1.

The removal of the enemy endorsement definitely helped remove the unintended behaviors with the system’s usage by the player base.
