I don’t understand. I feel like it’s kind of silly how Doomfist kinda just puts his gauntlet up for a few seconds and just decides to put it back down. Like his arm get tired or something? This is Doomfist. But in OW2 he feels like such a wimp. His block is a terrible ability and we all know that. So. Here’s an idea. Just an idea.
Doomfist: Block
-
Block can now be used indefinitely. Hold the button to shield yourself as long as you desire until release.
-
Damage reduction reduced too 40%.
-
Damage absorbed needed for powered up punch increased too 250 damage.
-
Holding block for more than 2 seconds will slow your ammo reload speed by 50% and your abilities by 30%
-
Damage absorbed now doesn’t reset the gauge when block is not in use.
-
CC abilities will reset the damage absorbed gauge if hit directly.
-
Block now has a cooldown of 3 seconds from 8.
This is just an opinion of course. Thoughts?

You use block to get your cooldowns back - specifically punch but also slam. I could see it getting a second more duration added to it.
As a combination of the two versions: What if Doomfist got a larger damage reduction for the first second or two of his block that then degraded to 40% over time?
Yeah I can see that too, but it’s why abusing holding block would slow his ability cooldowns by a decent amount. Though maybe 30% is too lenient.
I just don’t understand why his abilities are meant for both engaging and disengaging now. He spends more downtime than old Sombra did. You use power block and they stop firing at you, so then what do you do? Just wait around until it’s off cooldown?
Doomfist feels like the new Sombra, where you just wait around for your abilities to come back while the enemy kills your team.

I agree, but it’s because his abilities feel so passive and non threatening. If you go in with him, nothing really happens. It’s why Doom’s are so passive to begin with now. It’s also why I think power block should be like Rein shield where you can just hold it for as long as you want. This creates a sense of space that he couldn’t really create before because well, if you shoot at him too much he’ll get his powered up punch. But if you don’t really shoot at him at all, he’ll create way more space standing there slowly moving forward.
He still gets countered by hard CC which is fair, it’s in the design. But against characters who lack that he will feel more empowering and scary to fight against. Which I think is good because right now he has a hard time fighting anything at this point without proper resources.
I just don’t understand how you’re supposed to use Rocket Punch as a tank. DPS I can understand because it’s get in-get out. Rocket Punch just knocks the enemy team AWAY to safety. You get a fully charged gauntlet, then you rocket punch the team. Ok? Now they are 20 miles away and stunned. Payload maps you’re fighting head on, not side to side where the walls are. So what, you go for flanks to get weird punch angles? Now your team is 4 v 5 while you set up your grand, main event play, which most likely won’t work any way. So it’s a tank version of old Sombra.
If you want to watch the best Tankfist play, watch ZBRA. If you can pull off even half of the stuff ZBRA does, you will do just fine.
I think this is a little low considering he’s vulnerable to cc & isn’t actually blocking anything for the team
50-55% might be a better start
Interesting idea but doom doesn’t really have long enough cooldowns for this to matter too much. Think it might be unnecessary to add.
What would be the purpose of an unlimited block that is so weak that you’ll be killed for using it?

I mean i dont see why you want to kick a man thats already down, but if you really want to kill him, go for it
Power block is just the worst defensive ability in the tank roster. Genji’s deflect is 100x times better. Sigma’s absorb also eats sleep/anti even gravs I think if you get lucky. Not to mention D.va gets 3 seconds of matrix.
meanwhile Doom powerblock is literally a “pls CC me” button. If they shut down your block (all it takes is hook/rock/sleep/ anti nade you get 0 value since he needs his empowered punch to make plays. He’s really weak. Let’s not even mention his ult, the worst ult in the game
Power block should be a toggle like D.va matrix and his E should get his slow back. fixed

It impresses me greatly how much deflect is better than block.
Not only you block 100% of the damage, you throw it all back, including most CC projectiles. Its pretty much an instant kill if you use it aganist reaper ult, pharah ult or mcrees nade. all of that in a hero that already deals way more damage than doom, has a great ultimate and is similarly mobile
That’s kind of unrealistic of a take though. Not everyone is going to be as good as ZBRA. Especially since he’s been playing Doom for an extremely long time. But yeah if you have extremely great mechanical skill and awareness, then Doom might be more oppressive than a lot of other tanks.
Thinking of block as a defensive ability is kind of missing the point when it’s used to make your punch stronger.
Why can’t Genji just deflect indefinitely ? his arm get tired or something ?
Doom is so bad that today i went dps mercy on him knowing he couldnt hurt the team fast enough
Genji deflect is leagues better than freaking power block, come on man.
