Mods, I apologize if this belongs somewhere else; I wasn’t sure which board was best for this topic.
Last night, I was playing with a friend and her boyfriend. Friend was group lead, and boyfriend was annoying her before the first round even started. She threatened to leave if he didn’t stop annoying her, and she did before the round started. Unfortunately because of group lead’s “leave as group” option, the entire group also left without us having a choice in the matter, so we all took the leaver penalty (-50 SR in that role, -10 SR in each other role, and a 10 minute competitive mode ban) for something out of our control.
I’m not happy with the outcome, but I figured I’d start this topic to warn others and to ask Blizzard to please fix this issue. It doesn’t seem to be a common issue, but it’s one that can be exploited by trolls. I’ve found topics about this from a year ago, and it still hasn’t been fixed.

I had a friend who would ragequit and leave any game where things didn’t go his way.
We aren’t friends anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Sad you lost a friend, but at the same time, a friend wouldn’t consistently do that to you, so you’re probably better off without them.
Normally, my friend would just leave our chat if she was upset, but this time was different. Her boyfriend sometimes takes things too far, and it wasn’t her favorite time of the month if you know what I mean.
I’m pretty sure you could just rejoin the game? (You probably would have had to have left the group first)
Also, your “friend” didn’t have to use the leave as group option.
And if you only found this topic from a year ago, thats probably because that was the last time anyone has ever complained about this. (its not an issue)
I mean i guess yeah, it wouldn’t hurt to add a “do you want to leave with group” to members. But certainly doesn’t sound like a priority
I did have the option to rejoin the match, but you have to remember that when a game has a leaver that early, the match is canceled after several seconds, so even though I tried, it was too late. That or like you said, maybe I would’ve needed to leave the group first. I don’t know.
Yes, my friend didn’t have to use the leave as group option, but she did, and penalizing everyone in the group isn’t right when they have no say in the matter.
The topics I found were through Google search, not forum search, so I don’t know how often this is brought up. Like I said, I don’t think this is a common issue, but I figured it would have been fixed, even as a low priority issue, considering it was brought up at least a year ago and can be abused by trolls and throwers.
Dude I have friend who did this to me several times, sometimes ragequit, sometimes he has to do something and stuff like that, its driving me crazy 
I play with him almost only on my alt because of that
Yeah, I guess it could be abused. I think the thing is though, you might be one of the two times it was ever done haha.
Generally, when you join a group, it’s with “friends,” or with people that are at least somewhat vetted.
Shrug, never had it happen to me. At any rate, it isn’t a bad suggestion to add a stay option or something, buy realistically I don’t see it ever happening haha.
I agree with you. It’s rare, and I didn’t even know it could happen. I think, but can’t confirm, that it can only happen in the first minute or two when the game will end due to a leaver. After that, the rest of the group stays in the game (at least in comp).
There’s been more complaining about it for quick play and arcade due to endorsement level and XP issues. I haven’t thoroughly checked the forums, but I think you’re right in that I’m only the second one to bring it up for comp.
I think you have the right solution if Blizzard notices the issue. Is there some way I can report the issue as a bug or something? I’m a console pleb and haven’t seen a way to do so in-game.
Uhh I’d guess the bug report forums. It’s not a bug though so it’d likely be ignored.
I dunno maybe someone else has a better suggestion as to where to “report” that haha
If the OP and others have issues with hot headed friends, for now I would insist on having the group lead yourself. Then your pals can ragequit without it affecting you 
That’s good advice. I hope Blizzard will just fix the issue, though, by letting group members choose whether they want to leave the game with group lead or not.
why would you queue for comp with someone like that in the first place?
Because he is my friend and I still like him even if he does this stupid thing
