The gm icon looks like freaking plat from ow 1…
What a bunch of untalented ui designers. Some dude from fivver could do more interesting looking icons for a few bucks.

Personally, I much prefer the OW1 versions, as well. Masters and GM shevrons could’ve been a bit more visually distinctive from each other, but otherwise, they were all easier on the eye.
The better question is why even changing them if not going to make them better.

I did like the old icons better, but you don’t have to be mean about it. Clearly someone thought it was an improvement or they wouldn’t have changed it.
The same reason they removed LFG and changed the hud, to make it look like a new game.
