I get collab skins being FOMO, seems kind of dumb to me saw the new weapons skins on the shop, went to look at the old 1 and couldn’t buy them even if i wanted to… So does blizzard like to pick and choose when they want money, cause that right there would lead to a revenue shortfall…
Not everyone has money right then and there when you want to sell something… Even if they wanted to buy it.

cuz it makes more money if people know or think they wont get it again; or least in theory
idk how much they would lose by just selling everything

They really aren’t though. Outside of collab skins (and certain colourful OW1 limited skins), most other skins seem to be making a return to the shop over time, including some supposedly “FOMO” shop skins being given away for free, and I’d bet those collab skins will roll back around eventually too. Blizzard likes money. Cosmetics locked away forever is counterproductive to making money.
People get scared and buy stuff up as soon as it comes out even though Blizzard has in no way implied that items will be gone forever.
In other words, the FOMO is in your head, all you really need is patience because eventually that skin you can’t afford today will very likely be for sale again (or even free) at some point in the future.

Even mythic were pretty much locked out if you missed them but now they’re being brought back and you can just buy them directly too. Pretty much nothing in this game is gone for good.
Except maybe collabs, those aren’t likely to return because of licensing deals

Everything in shop will be back in shop eventualy…
Yeah but you weed out the impulsive shoppers, what if i am looking at hero gallery and say that skin looks not i might get it only to see it locked. Then when they do give my the option to get it, i already changed my mind. I have don’t that with a few skins. I know the skins they are blizzard could of swindled like 100 dollars off me not all at once but in total. I can’t be like the only 1 either.
But, that´s what they want - you are their profit money.
Because this is how the game industry works now. You either have the money right then or you can wait a year+ to maybe spend the same $20 you would have spent now but later on instead.
It’s a terrible scam but unfortunately, it works because too many people have no idea what value actually means.
I am not if, they are not letting me get something when my impulse trigger flag is tripped. That’s the problem, the more skins that are made the less value they have, unless they are cooler than the previous or they are some collab. I am rationally not gonna buy a skin cause i have all the cool 1s already, how ever i might impulse buy skins, whether it is a completionist in me or some other dumb reason.
For instance, i saw those new weapons skin for junk and soldier, don’t really care how those character looks and i remembered some of the light weapons kind of looked cool, would of prolly bought 1, but wasn’t selling. so made this post complaining about it instead.
