Last night was abysmal. For about 6 different games I got 6 different pairs of Plats trying to carry their silver friends and the games were an utter mess.
Why does Blizz allow this? Almost always the Silver, no matter what role they play, lacks the mechanics or gamesense to keep up with Gold or Plat players and they just drag the whole team down with them.
It’s worse when the silver decides to DPS. Unless they’re a smurf they just end up hard feeding all game. I’m talking (keeps playing Pharah into Double Hitscan + Zen) feeding.
Seriously why have they never fixed the sr limitations for grouping? A Silver should not be able to group into games 2 ranks higher than his own rank.

Nobody should be able to group with anyone that’s more than one tier from their current rank
trust me, I’m in the same boat, but more often than not they’re on the other team and the Silver Mercy is pocketing the Plat DPS they’re queuing with

Ive seen this cases. I even tried it at some point and in most of the matches i carried the plat team.
But yes, Bronze-Gold is too random to learn or adapt there, and Plat is too toxic, but at least solid.
MMR needs changes. I dont say, a reset, but changes. But maybe major changes require a reset tho.

Because they’d smurf otherwise? Folks wanna play with friends no matter what stipulation they set. Better they do it by the rules than cheat.

Barely. I’ve spoken to actual smurfs and one of the biggest reasons given for it is to play with worse, IRL friends. Smurfs are a rarity at best currently and such a change would likely exacerbate the problem manifold. Smurfs are just whined about here because 1: folks cannot identify one in low ranks 2: they latch onto bad games but not good ones and extrapolate that they all were like their worst ones to soothe their egos. I have 60 games this season and recall 0 smurfs and 2 trolls only one of which was hardcore. These issues are minor at best.
They could easily just block it by tier. I personally wouldn’t care. It would block weird MM problems with it. But it just be harder to play with friends. Especially if someone is just 20 SR from a tier. No exceptions. When I played in Plat games. People didn’t care. I’m actually good. So they just wondered why was in Silver. Only play one character. But I happily took the 62SR wins, when I got them.
I always hate when I see a lower/higher ranked players in my games because it usually means it’s gonna get “funky”. Sometimes it doesn’t really matter but honestly I have a bigger problem with groups when I am solo Qing… but I also don’t like long Q times so I deal with it

I honestly dont understand why people just cant play quickplay or arcade with lower skill friends. Honestly its way less stress anyway.

Those modes are pretty awful tbh. I can only enjoy em with a group of friends knowing we are screwing around.

You would be suprised. I have seen quite the tryhards as of late in mayhem of all game modes. It could just be the ana challenge but man I was laughing hard at some of these people sweating in that mode.
That’s cuz the Ana Bastet event; same thing happened with the Nano Cola DVa event. It was a welcome fresh breath of air imo!
I mean yesterday I was playing comp and was duo stacking with a friend of mine who is 2.8k while I was ~20 sr away from masters and than we got a gold on our team and another plat against a full team of diamonds. Ik the game has to compensate my sr with my friends so the games Will be around 3.2k but why on earth would I get 2 plats 1 gold and 3 diamond against 6? It seems so unfair
1000 SR gap is way too big. We need to make it at most 500 SR no matter what rank you play in. I know it sucks for those playing with their friends but matchmaking balance is a more important thing.

I mean youre right about people not being able to recognize smurfs. But from what Ive seen in gold and low plat it goes both ways. Ive had a team be confused about how easy a round was and not realizing our Hanzo was a smurf and murdered everything.
It doesnt take a genius to know that if the enemy team has a lvl 30 playing tanks and then as soon as they lose a point swapping to a Tracer that a full team of counters cant deal with is a smurf and not an actual level 30 god at the game.
But yes people also exagerate, I had a Mei complain about the enemy smurf hanzo cause he killed her 3 times in the first 3 minutes. So I went in to check, a hanzo terrified of a Moira succ, running away and ducking corners in simply not a smurf. Then I watched our Mei and she just keep trying to walk up at him in a straight line to freeze him so would get murdered every time she tried to fight him.

I had someone claim the enemy had a smurf Widow; I died as Moira twice that game and only once to Widow. If she is a smurf then so am I! Maybe just don’t walk out into the empty field by yourself and hope you live.
I can recognize when my team has a smurf as suddenly doing nothing as there’s nothing to do and the same icon in the kill feed nearly every time.

Lmao tbh getting into Widow sight lines has become a meme in my group of friends, as apparently even my diamond friends tend to find me difficult to hit with my movement patterns (I call it doing the sniper dance) so im kind of the resident sniper check in my group of friends. It works on Crees as well, best way if you wanna tilt the Cree to walk into your team trying to flash you xD
