Why are people suddenly

Thinking and acting like there is any incentive to winning a QP match.

You. Gain. NOTHING.

You. Lose. NOTHING.

Leaving does not matter because there are NO STAKES IN QP. You get NOTHING. Anyone saying they get something in a QP match is a delusional poor person who doesn’t know to just buy everything from the store because it will take literal years to gain anything from F2P routes.

Get over it. This solves nothing. Because NOTHING was being lost in a QP match.

Call me old fashioned, but what happened to playing games/hobbies because you derive enjoyment from that activity?

I’d suggest going back on your meds, but I’ll play along.

What is the gain for winning Comp matches? A couple dozen meaningless currency and a small number went up a few points?

You aren’t “gaining” anything tangible from Overwatch except the enjoyment you take from it, and constant leavers are annoying.

It is one more indication that quickplay isn’t the mode for doing whatever you want and should be played to at least somewhat try to win.

But the community doesn’t want that part.

yea true heh

still its the rule of odds. two teams so 50/50 is a thing

now imagine if it was 3 teams going against each other then your record would float to being 33.3535353535 or whatever 3 divided into 100 would be

I will educate you friends. Come, sit around me as I regale you of 2, yes TWO separate times Blizzard has decided that what was needed in QP was leaver penalties.

Ah the pandemonium was spectacular the forums on FIRE! Busshock as far as the eye could see!

Both times Blizzard reverted the change within weeks.

Both times Blizzard refused to admit they were wrong.

And both times Blizzard refused to learn.

And yet here we are, repeating history yet again in the year of our Lord 2023.

And I will be back, again, doing this, again, reminding Blizzard AGAIN, that this is the dumbest idea ever sweated out of that shiny dome piece the DEVS call heads.

I don’t care about win ratios. I can lose games all day.

All I ask are matches that are not a waste of my time.

You gain nothing from playing a game too so why do you play it?

remembering all the times when people had short bursts of lapse in judgement deciding to leave when a win is inches away because someone forgot to do something they want calling out diff on every role

Yeah OW2 QP is comp-lite. Can try different heroes, test your boundaries etc, but still try your best to win. It’s not MP/muckaround play. It’s QP/Quick play. Get in a game fast so you can game, with the aim to win.

Arcade mode, custom games, that’s the game modes to fully muck around.

I know that and you know that, but the community has pretty consistently ignored it and/or outright raged about it.

There was a time that the purpose of a game was to play it for the sake of enjoyment alone. Not a rank. Not a cosmetic.

But because you enjoy it.

Now with that in mind. One of the things that harms enjoyment is when someone is a baby about the map, the composition, the matchmaking balance , and decides to leave a match they signed up for.

Even further, we know for a fact that the vast majority of players play quickplay. That is where most of us spend our time. Which means that the leaver problem in quickplay is impacting the majority of the player base.

If this change to penalties affect you then I do not feel sorry for you. Because you have been harming the player experience for ages. Now the consequences are going to land squarely on your head. I am glad for it.

And if you entirely leave overwatch because of it?

We. Lost. Nothing.
We. Gained. Much.

What you “gained” is annoyed people staying in a match they don’t want to be in.

But you asked for it I guess.

There literally isn’t any real incentive to play this game anymore, period. Before f2p ruined everything, you didn’t have some cringe BP to grind that felt more like work than someone’s actual day job.

If you don’t dump money into this game, the BP “rewards” are as exciting as a bootleg Happy Meal toy. Skins that used to be free in lootboxes are now $20 for some pixels. Competitive points still don’t do anything beyond gold weapon skins.

I don’t forsee that being a problem. If they don’t want to be in the match they can still leave. They just lose the ability to shop around for matches with impunity.

If they do choose to be annoying in matches then they’ll be wasting their own time and I’ll just laugh at them. Because it is quickplay, and I can still have fun while they sit there sulking.

Not to mention people aren’t as good at throwing in a subtle way as many on this forum are claiming. Resulting in them losing access to their account eventually if they don’t shape up.

This is one of the better decisions the overwatch team has made. I honestly wish it was a little stricter but I’ll take this compromise.

To be fair, there are no actual stakes in any video game.

Winning in comp grants ultimately the same rewards. Losing removes nothing.

These are more points to avoid getting tilted than to avoid trying at all.
