I’m Genuinely Curious. Aside from the Worthless Excuse of “it’s not P2W because you can Grind to Level 45 of the Battle-Pass for Free”, why do people seem fine with Locking New Heroes? Wouldn’t it be Objectively better if all Heroes were Unlocked Instantly from the Beginning?
Plus, IT IS P2W because New Heroes are Confirmed to be Intentionally Designed “on the Safe Side of Strong”, plus people have a Massive Advantage in Quick Play by having a Mauga on their Team, plus once Mauga is Available in Competitive they’ve been able to Practice and therefore have an Advantage over people who only just got the New Hero by Grinding.
That’s what the Exclusive Cosmetics are for. Heroes are Free to everyone after the Season anyway, so why not just let people use the OP Hero from the Start? Locking Heroes is Stupid, Locking OP Heroes is Moronically Scummy.
I haven’t seen anyone defending it (not that I looked very hard tho, I don’t use things like reddit or twitter). I thought that this was like, the one thing that everyone universally agreed was a bad thing.
Overwatch’s Heroes ARE the Game. League of Legends has a bunch of Samey Champions. Apex Legends and Valorant don’t Lock OP Guns, just Legends or Agents with Supplementary Abilities that don’t Overshadow the Guns.
These aren’t the same Game, they shouldn’t have the same Business Practices and in Overwatch’s Case, Locking Heroes is OBJECTIVELY Detrimental to the Health of the Game.
Even Apex Legends lets you Save-up a Currency that lets you Buy the New Legend the Very Second a New Season comes out, unlike Overwatch 2 which Forces you to Start from Scratch every Season unless you Pay a Non-Refunding Battle-Pass.
Is lol based around counter picking mid game. And ill do you one better i play smite i spent 15 bucks 8 years ago and i still to this day get ever new god free thats how you do free to play every players who had ow1 should never pay for a new hero and all new players should have a 15-30 dollar option to get every hero instantly for ever at that point the skin prices would be justified
‘spoiled’? They aren’t doing anybody any favours. The player base are their customers, they need to keep player coming back, how could they possibly be spoiled? Nobody is being ‘spoiled’ here. On the contrary, You are not even being rewarded, you instead purchase an opportunity to unlock something.
Besides, you’ve completely deviated from the topic at hand, i.e. heroes being locked behind a battleplass. The only only reason for this is to drive up battleplass sales, there is no reason for it besides this. It is not a ‘reward’ but an incentive to purchase, regardless of the marketing jargon you reiterate like a company AI.
there’s a select number of players here that will shill for the company no matter what they do.
Look at the Bobby K instance and no surprise here, that people still think he did nothing wrong. Part of this game’s community has a cult to it and no matter what blizzard does to their game. They will say it is “okay” because blizzard says its okay.
Ive never, ever, in the history of the forum, read someone saying otherwise. Where are you getting your “info” from buddy?
Also the “New Player Experience” thing is a different stuff , lets not go into that because it makes sense that a new player does not have everything unlocked.
Oh it is absolutely horrible. Then again you know that and you also probably know that just about no one defends it. This entire thread is based on a faulty premise that there are people out there defending this when at best you might find 1% of people who do not hate it.
This thread is the equivalent of going, “Here is my hot take: I love peanut butter chocolate”.
Basically anyone who says “oh, but [Insert Game] does it worse” is Justifying it by Ignoring the Issue because another Worse Game is, who would’ve Guessed it, Worse!
Nobody likes paying 20% more for food right now compared to 3 years ago, so just by saying “Oh this shop did even worse, increased prices 50%” does NOT mean we are ok with that. In fact it means “yes, its bad, but it could be worse”. Thats it.
