On Overbuff Mei has ridiculous stats. Every week. And by ridiculous it says she has like 40k damage.
This is from looking at her stats at GM, over any time period the damage is always so high.
I thought maybe it was her pickrate but bastion is almost 4x as low and his stats look normal.
So what causes this? because if data is being pulled from our career profiles what Mei is Thanos Snapping entire lobbies.
Yeah but we’re not talking damage comparable to any other character. We’re talking Mei gets 50,000 damage per game. Which simply can not be the case.
Mei can feed a lot because the firing rate is not fast and can’t one shot anyone but tracer. So she could be feeding damage. Still, sounds incredibly high
I’ve wondered about that, actually asked the Overbuff account on twitter about that but no response (not that they had the obligation to, I’m just a prick on twitter).
I have no idea what stat they must be mixing up with her damage to get the bonkers 40k average.
This and many other reasons why you can’t trust Overbuff as reliable statistics. The methodology is unknown, the number of persons recorded is unknown and the site still thinks Symmetra is a Support hero.
And it’s likely to be very easy to screw around with the stats in the in Overbuff if Mei can achieve extremely high averages like you mentioned.
I’m nearly 100% sure there’s an Excel sheet somewhere around the office with every stat ever, all they have to do is share a link and boom, community is instantly better, I betcha SI Not Found or some geek on Reddit is gonna make a website with all the bells and whistles to visualize that data.
Heck, it would probably be me. Blizz please give me data. Please.
I did think that, but then I looked at Bastion and his stats are normal.
Mei currently has a 0.22% and Bastion is 0.06%, so surely Bastion’s would be wonkier?
I believe it would get more toxic if they didn’t. People would critiscise them for not nerfing the top and buffing the bottom instead of them doing what they like.
I beg to differ lol. When people continually feed the opposing team - it’s very very very easy to get that much damage in the game right now but power creep is just a conspiracy theory right? I main ball/sigma/rein/orisa with the ocassional zarya and my damage alone on ball “best” is 20k - on ball. For sigma it’s 30k. And those are tanks.
You think feeders can get 50,000 damage per game? Even then is every Grandmaster Mei player really going to feed. And is every Grandmaster opponent going to let her get damage off while she feeds?
Bearing in mind you used tanks as an example. Those heroes can feed and get a lot of damage. This is poor Mei who can’t do a ton of damage and has half the healthpool with 0 damage abilities.
Whereas Bastion who is below her in pickrate actually has normal stats, so what gives because it can’t be feeders.
I mean - gm is only 1% of the population. If the person broke it down into ranks - it would probably vary greatly. But in the lower elos - 40k damage isn’t uncommon.
her stats are that high at all ranks. But including GM makes me doubt the legitimacy. Even in gold the highest average damage is Bastion at 20k.
It’s supposed to be an average of everybody on Mei. And i can’t imagine every single person who ever played Mei fed, and fed so well they got 40-50k damage every game
If Mei could dish out that much damage then she’d be meta for sure.
I don’t ever trust “statistics” from a game where the devs refuse to release ANY data on it. So I agree with you there. I also agree that mei having more damage than bastion is kinda…awkward and probably not accurate. And I agree with you - if she was that over powered - she’d definitely be the meta. So I really am unsure here. I don’t play mei so I can’t go look at my own stats on her, unfortunately. I did have a friend the other day who got on winston and did 22k damage on him and we were both mindblown. But across the board? I just don’t know.
